A long and rangy athlete, Beretich has ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball. She has good quickness to get off the net and available in transition and can bring an aggressive arm in the air. Her footwork patterns around the setter create good space to swing through a broad range of the court. On the defensive side she shows good balance and patience to see and react to the opposing set and get strong hands across the tape and create good pressure. Cleaning up some of her mechanics throughout her patterns will create more efficiency in her movement leading to her elevation and swing.
Lauryn Bowie – 6’2 | Westerville South
Bowie has size and length and can fill space well at the net when blocking. Capable of both middle and right side play, she has big potential to be a formidable factor on both sides of the ball. As she progresses through the club season keep an eye on her footwork development and any ability to be more efficient in her movement patterns as these areas will increase her effectiveness in momentum build and balance to take healthy swings more consistently. She has shown good progress from the short club season a year ago to the most recent high school season and has the foundation to become a top prospect in this class for Ohio.
Ava Horn – 6’1 | Anthony Wayne
Horn gained good experience this high school season for the Generals. As a primary middle she was called upon to contribute for a team that had a very competitive and successful season. With a core group of veteran attackers on this team, she supported them well in averaging about one kill per set while solidifying herself has a solid defender in contributing over two blocks per match. She has good size and length at 6’1 but will need to show more efficiency in her footwork and aggressiveness in her transition and arm swing to command the ball offensively that could trend her towards the upper echelon of 2023 middle prospects.
Courtney Stava – 5’11 | Centerville
For Centerville, Stava showed a good relationship with her setter in her timing and spacing to score in front and overhead off one foot. With average power in her arm she does get her feet to the ball well. She increases her impact offensively by improving her footwork patterns to be more deliberate in a slow-to-fast process and in opening her shoulders to the set in the air to create more torque. This will allow more explosiveness through her arm swing at the peak of her jump as well as increase pace following her contact. She has good versatility to swing on the left pin where she saw a fair amount of opportunities during the previous club season.
