Here are five 15th Region eighth graders on the rise.
Gabriella Damron: An East Ridge eighth grade defensive specialist, Damron chipped in during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Damron appeared in three varsity volleyball matches as an eighth grader. Expected to take on a larger role for her team in 2021, Damron is a talented young defensive player.
Brailyn Harless: A Johnson Central eighth grader, Harless made an impact on the varsity level for her team in the latest prep campaign. Harless appeared in nine matches during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Agile, Harless has shown the ability to deliver from various parts of the court.
Olivia Maynard: A Martin County right side/defensive specialist/libero, Maynard is a versatile performer. Maynard recorded 33 digs and 12 service aces in only six matches during the 2020 high school volleyball season. A strong hitter from the right side, Maynard possesses a solid all-around skill set.
Kendra Moreno: A Prestonsburg outside hitter, Moreno chipped as an eighth grader during the 2020 high school volleyball season as well. Moreno appeared in three matches as part of an eighth grade campaign. Athletic, Moreno elevates consistently at the net.
Jaycie Stanley: A Phelps middle hitter, Stanley excelled during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Stanley appeared in 10 of 12 matches during a shortened 2020 prep volleyball campaign, recording 19 kills, 17 blocks and 34 digs. Aggressive at the net, Stanley is a determined competitor.
