Here are four 12th Region sophomore middles to watch.
Hallie Brown: A Rockcastle County sophomore middle hitter, Brown delivered throughout the 2020 high school volleyball season. As a sophomore, Brown registered 69 kills, 20 blocks and 11 digs. Brown closes blocks well and reads setters efficiently.
Sara Gdovka: A West Jessamine sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter, Gdovka is emerging as a key player for the reigning 12th Region champion. Gdovka appeared in 18 of West Jessamine’s 28 matches during the 2020 high school volleyball season, posting 31 kills, 45 blocks and 15 digs. Agile, Gdovka is a strong blocker who has shown explosiveness at the net.
Jai Piazza: A Mercer County sophomore middle hitter, Piazza was a leader for her team during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Excelling as a sophomore, Piazza tallied 142 kills, 26 blocks, 58 digs and 25 service aces. Piazza is productive and provides a strong presence along the middle of the net.
Kylee Tucker: A Southwestern sophomore middle blocker, Tucker made an impact for her team during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Tucker appeared in 12 of 48th District champion/12th Region runner-up Southwestern’s 22 matches, recording 26 kills and 23 blocks. Athletic, Tucker is expected to be a key contributor for Southwestern during the 2021 high school volleyball season.
