A look at four versatile 12th Region sophomores follows.
Sydney Alley: A Wayne County sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist, Alley chipped in for her team throughout the 2020 high school volleyball season. Set to take on a larger role for the Wayne County volleyball team in 2021, Alley posted 13 kills and 42 digs in only 33 sets as a sophomore. Alley is agile and makes digs regularly, displaying athleticism.
Areli Alvarez: A Somerset sophomore right side hitter/outside hitter/defensive specialist, Alvarez is one of the most versatile volleyball players in the 12th Region. Alvarez posted 70 kills, 6 assists, 73 digs and 13 service aces during her sophomore campaign. The Somerset sophomore is a solid hitter from each side and possesses strong defensive skills.
Sara Gdovka: A West Jessamine sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter, Gdovka stepped up during the 2020 high school volleyball season. As a sophomore, Gdovka logged 31 kills, 45 blocks and 15 digs in 18 matches. Gdovka is an aggressive blocker and hits well from the left side.
Keelee King: A Rockcastle County sophomore setter/right side hitter, Burns flourished during the 2020 high school volleyball season. As a sophomore, King recorded 24 kills, 29 blocks, 240 assists, 114 digs and 31 service aces. King delivers as a hitter from the right side consistently and is an accurate passer.
