Now volleyball is in sight for these girls and boys. So let’s give a shoutout to some of the boys we want to see this season. Today’s list focuses on players from South Jersey.
Dylan Countouris (Atlantic Tech)
Countouris was solid as Atlantic Tech’s setter and picked up 419 assists. He was also one of the team’s better servers with 20 aces, which was going to be second-most among returning players. Those numbers will surely increase this season. He’s a lethal passer anywhere on the court.
Tyler Jones (Washington Township)
Jones put up one of the higher assist totals in the state in 2019 with 677. He added in 33 kills with 17 aces for good measure. He’s the engine for the offense and his precision-passing gives him team everything they need to be successful.
Daniel Sinton (Manchester Township)
Sinton is the prowess of the Manchester defense as the libero. He finished with 174 digs back in 2019 and is going to be the focal point of turning defense into offense. His anticipation is what makes him a solid libero which allows him to always be in the right position.
Ben Fryc (Jackson Memorial)
Fryc shared time as a middle back in 2019. He still showcased his potential with 86 kills and 21 blocks. He can impact the game both offensively and defensively which means if he’s off in one area he could still effect the game in another.
Tommy Deakyne (Southern)
Deakyne has waited his turn patiently and will now be one of the top options for Southern this season. Playing opposite allowed him to get some significant playing time as an underclassmen. He knows his angles well as a hitter which allowed him to record 83 kills. Watch for his numbers to jump immensely.
Expect these boys to be a critical components to ensure their teams have great seasons. They will all be coming out to play with a purpose without being able to play high school volleyball in almost two years when their season begins in April.
