The Gateway League continued with the 15-18’s, where there was what we consider an upset taking place in the 17s division. In the Heart of America region, their 17s played their Power League Qualifier in Wichita, Kansas. Let’s take a look back at the weekend.
Gateway
Since we mentioned it, let’s start there. Rockwood 17 Elite were knocked off by their inhouse friends of Rockwood 17 Navy to start the day. Navy took the 1st set 25-17 before Elite roared back to take the 2nd, 25-19. The third set was a back and forth battle before Navy created some distance to win it 15-12. Navy would also defeat HPSTL 17 and Missouri Juniors to go undefeated on the day.
In the 16s division both Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite and Missouri Jrs. 16-1 had strong days. 16 Elite ran through their pool knocking off foes HPSTL 16 Royal and Thunder 16 Navy along the way. Jrs. took out a trio of HP teams along with SMASH 16-1.
The 18s division saw Rockwood 18 Elite dominate the day after a close opening set against Thunder 18 White. After the 25-21 set, they would win their remaining sets on the day -15, -12, -7, -4, and -10. HPSTL 18 Royal traveled to Indiana for the Girls Winter Championship Qualifier, where they went 2-5 on the weekend.
The 15s haven’t been in Gateway action for a handful of weeks. Some teams have ventured to play in area tournaments to keep themselves ready, including Rockwood 15 Elite who played up in some 18 tournaments. They started where they left off having a dominant Sunday beating HPSTL 15 Royal, HP South 15 Premier, and Missouri Jrs. 15-1. 15 Royal gave them a fight in the first set, 25-20 before making a statement in the second, 25-9. HPSTL would finish 2-1. Also going undefeated in their pools were: HPSTL 15 Orange, Rockwood Thunder 15 Navy, Rockwood Thunder 15 White, Rockwood Thunder 15 Black, HP Illinois 15 National, HTH 15-1

Have a day Dynasty Volleyball! Club! Not only did all four teams playing at the qualifier advance, but they all also won their pools on the day. Dynasty 17-1 and Dynasty Academy 17-1 both went undefeated on the day after winning their crossover match. 17-2 and 17-3 would lose their crossover matches to the likes of PVA and KC Power , the other two teams to win out on the day. PVA and Power made easy work of their competition, not dropping a set on the day. The four undefeated teams will be the top four seeds going into the first play date on Super Bowl Sunday. Mavs volleyball program was able to get three teams into Power league, KC 17-1 and 17-2, along with 816 17-1. 417 Columbia is a new club that made some noise, going 2-1 on the day.
