Southern
Southern made another statement this past weekend in a battle of unbeatens against Rancocas Valley. The squad won in dominant 25-14, 25-15 sets. Dylan Lockwood had his imprint on the match from the start finishing with 23 assists. Tommy Deakyne had 15 kills to lead Southern. They jumped on Rancocas Valley from the start and never gave them a chance. Right now, they’re the cream of the crop in the state. Can anybody stop them?
Scotch Plains-Fanwood
Scotch Plains-Fanwood continued their run of perfection in a dominant win over Plainfield this past weekend. The squad did not miss a beat in a 25-2, 25-11 victory. It was a complete team effort with 11 players on the stat sheet. The squad was led by Nicholas Schmidt who finished the match with 27 assists. He spread the ball around and made it look effortless with pinpoint precision. Scotch Plains-Fanwood will continue to ride the wave of success and they will be difficult to be stopped.
Ridge
Lastly, we have Ridge. Ridge has played one of the tougher schedules so far this season. This past weekend they took on Chatham and had a solid performance in a 25-18, 25-14 victory. Raymond Shu was the focal point of the offense with 15 assists. He always made the right play and ensured their best opportunity to score. If Ridge can maintain the momentum off of this performance, watch out.
