Scotch Plains-Fanwood
Scotch Plains-Fanwood has been nothing short than spectacular this season. This squad has played the most out of the three squads being mentioned. They’re a whopping 14-0! Everyone on this squad has contributed significantly and the team is so balanced.
They have 8 players who have double-digits in kills and 6 players who are in double-digits for digs. The team is all-around and they have bought in to Coach Hor’s philosophy. This was a team that many thought would have been dominant in their spring season last year if it was not cancelled. They are showing why this season. The team is led by Nicholas Schmidt as the catalyst of the squad making sure everyone is in the correct spot and has 275 assists.
Moorestown
Next up is Moorestown who have been offensive juggernauts this season. The team has 4 players with 20+ kills and utilize all four in a variety of ways to keep teams off-balance. The team is 9-0 at the moment and they have not been really tested yet this season.
The team is led by Mr. Do it All in Jimmy Fletcher. His primary position is at setter but he has contributed in all phases. He has 17 kills, 24 digs, 12 aces to compliment his 127 assists. His pinpoint accuracy along with his versatility have made him the focal point for Moorestown because you know he will find a way to make an impact.
Kearny
Last up is Kearny who have played the least amount of games but they’re a solid 8-0 presently. Kearny like Scotch Plains-Fanwood has contributors everywhere you look. The squad relies on their defensive prowess to ensure their success. The team has five players with double-digits in digs and the team quickly turns defense into offense with one pass.
The team is led by senior Santiago Lopez. Lopez is almost like a coach on the floor for the team and has a live arm with 79 kills. He’s added in 37 digs for good measure. The squad has great depth which allows the squad to not rely too heavily on their starting rotation which gives them a great opportunity for them to be fresh for the postseason.
