Here are four 2023 16th Region middles to watch.
Gracen Layman (2023) is a middle blocker from Ashland High School. Layman is a consistent blocker who blocks well individually and with teammates. Athletic, Layman moves well from side to side and executes fast attacks frequently.
Emma Sparks (2023) is a middle blocker/defensive specialist from Boyd County High School. Versatile with a diverse skill set, Sparks can lead both offensively and defensively. A productive player from multiple positions, Sparks reads the setter efficiently and is agile.
Sarah Paige Weddington (2023) is a middle hitter from Lewis County High School. A newcomer for Lewis County, Weddington made her high school volleyball debut in 2020. An All-Area performer in her debut high school season, Lewis is an aggressive hitter and blocker who elevates well at the net.
Alexis Williams (2023) is a middle blocker from Fleming County High School. Williams reads opposing hitters to set up blocks efficiently and uses quick attacks on offense regularly. Among the leaders for her high school team, Williams possesses solid jumping abilities.
