Beset by Covid, they were one of only three teams in the entire state that had to forgo their post season AND a possibility of advancing far. Here’s to hoping they make up for their unfortunate setback.
’22, Kassidy Boener, 5-7 OH
A high-and-hard attacker, this Boiler Juniors product will be responsible for the majority of serve receive, defense and attack. She finished first in both kills and digs for the Knights in ’20, and will be called upon to fill even more holes as the Knights graduated six from their truncated season.
’23, Grace Roach Grace Roach 6'0" | MB Lafayette Central Catholic | 2023 State IN , 6-0 MB
If there’s something Coach McCarter always seems to have, it’s rising experience. Grace is yet another volleyball-savvy kid who is heavy-armed and quicker than most give her credit for. She also takes up a good amount of space on the block, and at six feet, she’ll be one of the biggest middles in all of 1A.
’23, Caroline Beardmore, 5-8 S
A 5-1 offensive setter who always sets the right player in the right situation is something not normally seen at the larger schools, let alone at a 1A school. Her ability to feed hittable balls to every position is a trademark of this setter’s background, and she can keep defenses honest with a kill or two per set on her own. Yes, I’m partial to setters because of my OWN background, but if you watch Caroline work, you’ll like her too.
’24, Rachel Vorst, 5-5 DS/L
A young, up-and-coming defender, Rachel should see a significant amount of time as the future libero, if not the special jersey wearer this coming fall. If memory serves, she’s also earned a AAU Nationals championship trophy during her club season at Boiler Juniors, and she’s only a rising sophomore. This is a smooth and solid defender and can easily pass half the court in serve receive. I look forward to her continued rise, as the sky’s the limit for this young lady.
