Some teams continue on while others have their season come to an end. In order to stand on top of the mountain, teams need to step up with key performances. Did any of the top teams struggle? Were there any upsets? Let’s take a look at what I deem to be the key takeaways from the Quarterfinals!
All Chalk in North 1
The top four seeds in North 1 have progressed to the semifinals of this group. Jefferson, West Milford, Bergenfield and Fair Lawn are all in the semifinals from quality play. Bergenfield was the one squad truly tested as Don Bosco forced Bergenfield to three sets. Will chalk continue? I believe so.
Lower Seeds Remain
In the other three sections, you have two seven seeds and two six seeds remaining illustrating how anyone can be beaten on any given day. One of the lower seeds, I had going this far (Jackson Memorial) while the others I believed would be eliminated earlier. on. St. Peter’s Prep, Kingsway and Bridgewater-Raritan have exceeded my expectations. So much in fact that I would not be shocked if they end up in the final.

Justin Pauli (Bergenfield) 18 kills, 20 digs
Alexander Song (Bridgewater-Raritan) 27 assists
