It is an exciting time for these players, their coaches, and their families after missing out on this opportunity a year ago. The festivities will begin on Friday, July 2nd, and conclude on July 5th. Here are the Kansas teams participating in the USA and National Division.
Adidas Dynasty 16-2
How did they get here? 3rd Colorado Crossroads
Other notes: 6th HOA Regionals, 4th Show Me, 33rd at Northern Lights
Dynasty 16-2 has shown flashes of good play in the 2021 season. A great run through Colorado Crossroads allowed them the opportunity to take on Vegas this week. They have been consistent most of the year besides the Northern Lights tournament. Jocelyn Renfro has provided an offensive spark this year. She has continued to improve throughout the season and should provide points from the pin this week. Setters Adalyn Horn and Amber Allen have been efficient in running the show. MB Aubree Hoffman started the season strong and hopes to go out strong in Las Vegas.
PVA 16 -1
How did they get here? 3rd Place in HOA Power League
Other notes: 13th MEQ, 11th Show Me, 15th Windy City, 21st at Colorado Crossroads, 12th at Northern Lights
I don’t know if any teams competed in as many qualifiers as PVA , but this should surely make them battled tested for a run in the National Division. A third-place finish in a tough Power League puts them as a contender heading into Junior Nationals. We have really liked the play in the back row of Emma Wheeler and Charley Thomas this year. Both are solid in serve receive and smart defenders. Their ability to read and react is impressive. MaKya Clayton is an impact player and brings a lot to the table for this team. She plays setter during the high school season but has hit and played defense this spring. In the middle, Jaya Johnson and Elinor Engel have held down the middle this year.
