After the 2020 championships were wiped out, teams are excited and eager to venture out west to stake their claim as one of the top teams in America. The 15’s will be the first of the age groups we cover to kick things off June 27th-June 30th. Today we will take a look at some of the Kansas teams looking to leave their mark in the USA and National Divisions
Adidas Dynasty 15 Blue (15-2)
How did they get here? 2nd Place finish at MEQ in USA Division
Other notes: 10th Place HOA Power League, 9th HOA Regionals, 19th at Show Me, 9th at NL
Dynasty 15 Blue earned their bid after a strong early qualifier at MEQ. They finished 10th out of 16 teams in the tough Power League. After a disappointing finish at Show Me, they ended the season strong with a 9th place finish at Northern Lights. They field a very competitive team and have put themselves in a position to make a deep tournament run next week. Setter Lauren Wright is a player we’ve kept our eyes on this spring. She runs a good offense and keeps the opposing defense off balance. Libero Hannah Porter is a hard-nosed defender. Geneva Musolf has proved all season she is a force to be reckoned with in the middle.
Shockwave 15-1
How did they get here? 3rd place at Show Me Qualifier in the USA Division
Other notes: 4th place in HOA Power League, Won HOA Regionals
This has been a fun team to watch in 2021. They initially qualified in the American division after winning the Heart of America regional competition. It didn’t take long for them to upgrade that bid after a 3rd place showing in Kansas City. They are a dangerous team with a lot of firepower. OH Jillian Gregory showed us she has bounce and brings a powerful swing to the table. Camdyn Stucky is in our opinion one of the top young setters in the state. She is confident and her presence is felt throughout the match. Shockwave has a solid tandem in the middle with Cecelia Young and Avery Elofsson. Both are athletic and long. Libero Grace Hett Grace Hett 5'5" | DS/L Marion | 2024 State KS does a great job of leading the backcourt.
Mavs KC 15-1
How did they get here? Runner-up of the HOA Power League. The top two earn National bids.
Other notes: 3rd Place at MEQ, 9th place at Show Me Qualifier, 15th place at Northern Lights Qualifier
Mavs didn’t earn an open bid but should be among one of the top teams in the next toughest division, the national. They finished second to KC Power in HOA Power League to grab their bid to nationals. OH Sara Allmon has been consistent this season on the pin. She is a scorer who knows how to mix up her shots. Setter Kelsey Schenck has been impressive during her 15s season. On the right side, Fiona Van Dyke had a strong start to the season. Sophia Bond Sophia Bond 5'7" | DS/L St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State KS is a top-tier libero in this age group in the state. Also, look for the middle play of Sophia Munro to play a factor in their tournament success.
Mavs KC 15-2
How did they get here? 3rd place at Power League. Earned the bid due to KC Power owning an Open bid and winning Power League.
Other notes: 5th at MEQ, 3rd Show Me, 21st at Northern Lights.
Mavs KC 15-2 has had quite the season. 3rd place in one of the toughest power leagues in the country. Top 5 finishes in two national qualifiers. They stumbled down the end with a disappointing tournament in Omaha but look for them to bounce back after time off. OH Seenane Brewer is an elite score in the 15s division. She is more than an offensive threat and can make her presence known defensively. Setter Lauren Croom does a good job of getting her the ball. She runs a good offense and keeps the defense honest finding MB Eva Tarlos on the slide. RS Ella Goodwin and Libero Isabelle Jones are additional players Mavs will count on to advance deep into the tournament.
