Head Coach Christina Boesiger commented on the overall experience for her team. “This was a fantastic tournament for our team. Every player played exceptionally well, and it was a total team effort. I could not be more proud of how they came out focused and determined to play for 4 days straight. We had to battle through an injury, with losing Kendall Cose on Day 2 to an ankle injury, and everyone stepped up and filled the spots needed. Each game we were focused on winning the serve/pass and ball control game and I think we did that. We are very aggressive servers, so we were able to take teams out of their offense. Our passing and defense was very strong, so we were able to run a fast tempo offense.”
On Friday, Synergy swept the competition by defeating Alpha Performance Navy out of Kentucky 25-17, 25-16, LAV Black out of Alabama 25-16, 25-13, and finished out the day toppling SoFlo 14u National out of Florida 25-13, 25 -14. They started the day Saturday with a tighter match against Alliance 14-2 Molten out of Tennessee 25-23 and 25-20. Then turned around and dominated TPV 14 Yankee out of Tennessee as well 25-8, 25-4. They finished out the day victorious ME Elite 14 Elite East out of Minnesota. 25-12, 25-18. Synergy swept MadFrog 14 National Black out of Texas 25-21 and 25-14, Houston Stellar Elite 25-21, 25-20, KALIBEACH VC 25-15, 25-8 and finished out the day BVA Black Billy out of Florida 25-22, 25-18. Championship Monday began with a win against Kairos 14 Elite Adidas out of South Dakota 25-22, 25-18. Synergy’s only set loss came in the next game against A5 Mizuno 142 Allison 25-20, 18-25, 15-9. In the final game Synergy cruised to the National Championship win as they swept Illini Cardinal Elite 25-11, 25-14.
At the conclusion Anna Jelinek was named the Tournament MVP and Malorie Boesiger and Keri Leimbach were Tournament All-Stars. Anna is a great 6 rotation player, great passer, defender and hitter. She is very consistent and smart for being an undersized outside hitter. Malorie is a great server and makes smart setting decisions especially for being 12 and playing 14’s. Keri is a great serve receiver and defender. She is very quick and reads the other team really well!
Here is the complete roster, position and what school they will be attending in the fall.
- Malorie Boesiger – Norris (setter)
- Kendall Cose – Norris (middle blocker)
