Continue ReadingI debated for the last few weeks regarding the significance of publishing a 2025 Watch List. For complete transparency, I didn’t watch many 14u games last season. I devoted much of my time to the high school-aged athlete’s matches and coverage. We will get a better sense of who to keep our eyes on following the fall high school season. Nonetheless, there were some players in this class we did get to see due to playing up in 15u this past season. It’s a small number to start with but here are a handful of players we are certain about regarding their skill that you need to see this fall.
Emma Christian Emma Christian 5'8" | S Liberty North | 2025 State MO – 5’8″ – S – Liberty North/Dynasty
Christain was an important piece of the puzzle in the two-setter system Dynasty used in their championship season. She is a player who understands situations and moments and acts accordingly with set decisions. She sets a pretty ball and exhibits tremendous confidence on the court.
Morgan Christine Dumm Morgan Christine Dumm 5'11" | S Francis Howell | 2025 State MO – 5’9″ – S – Rockwood Thunder
Rockwood Thunder 15 Elite utilized two setters to keep their offense in sync last season. The younger Dumm did more than held her own on a team that triple qualified during the qualifying season. She has great hands and decision-making ability. Even while playing up, she showed she reads and understands defenses well which allows her hitters to find success.
Makenzie Miller Makenzie Miller 6'0" | MB Liberty North | 2025 State MO – 6’0″ – MB – Liberty North/Dynasty
Miller is a player who has a ton of potential and possibly still has some growing left in her. She makes her presence known across the front row when she’s in the contest. She is quick and does a great job of getting off the net in transition to make herself available to her setters. She gets off the floor fast and puts balls away.
Abigail Mullen Abigail Mullen 6'3" | RS Liberty | 2025 State #3 Nation MO – 6’1″ – RS – Liberty/Dynasty
Mullen played up on the National Champion Dynasty 15 Black team and proved she is one of the top opposites in the country. She is a go-to scorer on a team full of scorers; meaning if they need a point she is always an option. She showed to be a force defensively, sending back balls from opponents throughout the season.
Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'4" | OH Francis Howell Central | 2025 State #59 Nation MO – 6’3″ – OH – Francis Howell/ Rockwood Thunder
Last season, Smith was a force on the HPSTL 15 team. We are unsure if she previously played with Rockwood or will be moving there next season based on her recruitment page online…so if the team listed is wrong I apologize. With that being said, Smith brings a physical presence to the court that can’t be ignored. She has power and will continue to develop shot selections but she has the intangibles you look for in a promising pin player.
Maya Witherspoon Maya Witherspoon 5'11" | OH Lafayette | 2025 State #44 Nation MO – 5’10” – OH – Lafayette/ Rockwood Thunder
Witherspoon is a player who was already a force on the court, but it appeared she just kept getting better and better as the season wore on. She was a dominant player for a strong Rockwood Thunder team this spring. She is still developing as a back-row player but knowing her age, she will easily be a top-tier six rotation player.
