So it’s time to give some recognition who really caught our eyes this week. These four ladies left it all on the court and deserve every ounce of praise they are getting. Let’s take a look.
Cassidy Orbe (Westwood)
Orbe has been the standout top option for Westwood playing as an all-around outside. She has a great week including her best performance of the year in her last time out with 14 kills and 22 digs. She averaged 9 kills and 13 digs in three matches. Expect her to shoulder the load and trying to carry Westwood for the remainder of the season.
Mariella Hilyard Mariella Hilyard 5'11" | OH Mount St. Mary | 2022 State NJ (Mount St. Mary)
Hilyard had a week to remember for Mount St. Mary. She could not miss a swing even if she tried that’s how impressive and lethal she was on the outside. She averaged 14 kills and 12 digs in three matches and led them to a perfect week. The all-around outside can punish you from anywhere on the court so teams to know where she is in the rotation at all times.
Cassandra Gloster (Johnson)
Gloster has been one of the few bright spots for a Johnson squad that has been struggling to finish matches. In their three matches they all went the distance, Gloster averaged 9 kills, 8 digs and 2 aces. Her first season at the varsity level and she has showed a live arm but plenty of creativity with her swing selection by going angles, through the block, push to the corner and even a cut shot.
Taylor Miller (Demarest)
Miller has been a true surprise for Demarest. She had a solid week in the middle as she averaged 6 kills and 2 blocks in three official matches. However, she a had a monster tournament this past weekend leading them to a title. Her length and ability to play multiple positions make her a monster in the front row.
