Brooke Hansen, 5-10 Setter/Right Side, Etiwanda – As the primary setter Hansen took the reins of the offense and produced nearly 350 assists during the regular season to help the Eagles qualify for the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs. She added 77 digs, 65 kills and 55 aces (team high) along the way. Hansen’s 13 digs in a second-round victory over Norco in the playoffs were a season high. She racked up a season best with 40 assists in a Sept. 16 victory against Los Osos in four sets.
Keonahi’ilani Solaita, 5-9 Outside, Oak Hills – It was a busy rookie campaign for Solaita, who finished with 325 kills on 685 swings. She hit an impressive .375 to boot. Her kill total was nearly half of the Bulldogs’ total winners on the season, which ended with a first-round loss to Los Osos in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Solaita reached double-digit kills in the final 12 matches of the season and accomplished the feat in all but six of the team’s 22 matches. Her season high (28 kills) came in a five-game victory over Apple Valley on Oct. 4, one of seven time she recorded at least 20 kills. She also finished second in digs (229) and third in aces (32).
Teila Hill, DS/Setter, Oak Hills – Solaita’s freshman teammate Hill was the only member of the Bulldogs to play in all 67 sets as Hill made numerous contributions along the way. Most impressive was leading the squad in aces with 37, including a season-best 5 in a sweep of Sultana on Oct. 6. She also accumulated 97 assists and 139 digs, which was fourth most on the roster.
Sierra Grant, 5-10 Setter/Right Side, Chino Hills – Working their way into the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs, the Huskies received solid all-around numbers from Grant, one of three freshmen on the varsity roster. Grant ended the regular season with 345 assists, 118 digs, 42 aces and 36 kills. Grant continued her contributions in the playoffs, where she delivered a season-high 5 aces to go with 19 digs in Chino Hills’ sweep of Laguna Hills in the second round.
Addison Contreras, 5-8 Libero/DS; and Chloe Robertson, 5-4 Libero/DS, Upland – It was an all-freshmen defensive duo for the Highlanders, who reached the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Contreras has chipped in with 192 digs, averaging 2.3 per set, to date to go with 28 aces. Meanwhile, Robertson has added another 121 digs to mix along with 26 aces.
Morgan Graves, 5-10 Outside, Don Lugo – A loss to South Hills in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs is how the season ended for Graves and the Conquistadores but Graves’ season is cause for celebration nonetheless. She led the team in kills and was among the dig leaders as well. Her play helped Don Lugo to a perfect 10-0 record in Mt. Baldy League action. In her best outing of the season she nailed 20 kills on 21 swings, hitting .905, in a sweep over Chaffey on Oct. 5.
