There are times, admittedly, that I miss a few players along the way. Here are seven kids that recently earned all-state honors that I missed.
FIRST TEAM
Emi Isom, ’22, 5-5 DS/L, Daleville
For the regional finalist Broncos, Emily was the ‘bro that kept things so successful this season in the Muncie area. A WAVE club player from the Muncie area, her speed and accuracy in passing and defense is a much-needed trait at the collegiate level, and is still available to play at the next level. Nearly 500 digs later, and over 1000 for her career, Emi was the first contact more often than not, and is that relentless defender that is so needed at the next level.
Regan Wilson, ’23, 5-7 S, Lutheran
I hadn’t spent much time looking at Lutheran because of their record (8-25). But their late-season run to the regional final solidified Miss Wilson as the setter of the near future for the Saints. This Circle City product is sure to turn heads this club season, and her improvement has been next-level.
SECOND TEAM
Emily Rachel Cox, ’22, 5-10 MB/OH, Cambridge City Lincoln
Emily might not get the pub because of where she’s located (about halfway between Indianapolis and Dayton), but her size and strength got the Golden Eagles all the way to the sectional final. Miss Cox can be a primary passing outside, a three rotation pin player, or an explosive middle in a fast offense.
Julia Andreassa, ’22, 5-9 OH, Daleville
A native of Brazil, the Broncos needed all of her 23 kills in the regional semifinal to upset South Newton. This explosive, fiery outside hitter averaged over three kills per set leading an offense that was well-balanced all year.
Allie Marie Boyer, ’24, OH, Blackhawk Christian
A primary-passing outside, Miss Boyer led or was in the top three for the Braves in multiple categories. Her near-four kills per set paired with her primary passing duties kept Blackhawk Christian in a lot of matches, let alone was responsible for more that a few wins.
Kylie Antrim, ’22, 5-6 DS/OH, Wes-Del
The 24-7 Warriors had a ton of contributors to their successful season, but none had more of an impact in multiple parts of the game than Kylie. Here’s her averages: 2.8 kps, .271, .6 aps, and 2.5 dps. That’s as involved as you can get in my book.
Tori Clements, ’22, 5-7 OH/MB, Wes-Del
Another Warrior I didn’t talk about enough was Tori. Over two kills per set while hitting north of .300, Miss Clements was also the team leader in digs on the season. Of the five seniors on this fall’s squad, none had more efficient play than Tori, and will be sorely missed next fall. Even in defeat, her efficiency was on display; she earned team leads in their five-set loss to Daleville in the sectional final in kills (18), digs (17) and hitting percentage (.386).
