Jaleigh Crawford, ’22, 5-10 MB, Elwood
If there’s anything I’ve learned from the kids I haven’t seen live yet, it’s that they’re probably one of (if not) the only college-ready player(s) on their roster. Case-in-point, Miss Crawford. In their sectional, the Panthers lost a heartbreaker to Cowan in five, and their fight was evident throughout the match. Jaleigh finished with 29 kills, while hitting well north of .300. She also led Elwood in blocks, as she was the only player with any semblance of size and athleticism on the roster. Playing on varsity all four years, she finished with over 1000 kills, 160 aces, 230 blocks, and over 1000 digs. Oh, and by the way, she was a primary passer when not in the front row. Not bad at all.
Brea Garber, ’23, 6-0 MB/Pin, Fairfield
It is unfortunate that the Falcons’ season ended in the regional, because it would have been fun to watch this team continue their run. Running into eventual 2A champ Andrean was not in the cards, but then again, NO ONE could stop the Andrean locomotive all season. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with emphasizing Fairfield’s best attacker, Miss Garber. Here are some milestones she’ll accomplish before the end of next fall: 1000 kills, 200 blocks, 100 aces and 500 digs. Same stats, but two inches taller and a year younger than Miss Crawford above? Sounds like a next-level player to me.
Holli Kleittheimer, ’24, 5-10 MB/OH, Frankton
Asked to do a little more serve receive this fall, Holli did a little bit of everything for the Eagles, even in their epic, five-set defeat to Alexandria-Monroe in their sectional final (19-17 in the fifth!!!). In two years on varsity, this kid has already played in the middle and on the pins, and has already surpassed 500 kills, 100 aces, 100 blocks and 300 digs in her career. If she keeps the same pace, she’ll have more in each category than either of the two ladies listed above. Two more years of this for the Eagles? Sign me up.
Bailey Keusch, ’23, 5-10 OH, Southridge
Do not judge the Raiders’ season on their last match. Linton-Stockton has always been a solid volleyball program since I can remember, and their season was so much more than that sectional final. For one, Bailey is the only true six-rotation passer on this list today. Second, her numbers speak for themselves; she has a chance to surpass 1000 kills, 200 aces and 1000 digs next fall.
Caitlyn Campbell, ’23, 6-0 MB/Pin, Winchester
Responsible for more all-around play this fall than ever before, this basketball-first athlete led the Golden Falcons offensively throughout the fall of ’21 campaign. With size at a premium in this class, Caitlyn stands out as an adept and balanced athlete that can do multiple things on the volleyball court. She led all players with 3 kills per set, 2.5 digs per set and nearly a block per set. Oh, and she was one of the primary passers in serve receive, too.
