Amelia Casey- A player that doesn’t get much highlight, Amelia Casey, junior, from Phelps High School put up some impressive numbers this year with 146 total blocks making her #2 in the rankings!! 132 of them were solos which is extremely rare to see. Casey was a key hitter for the Lady Hornets all year and significantly helped the squad defensively in the front row. Phelps ended up losing a heartbreaker in the district semis in 5 sets, but Casey didn’t go without a fight. In her last game, she had 18 kills and 16 total blocks. That’s a kid you want in your lineup!
Katie Kaelin- Senior from Presentation High School, Katie Kaelin, made waves against every team she played because of her defensive skills! Kaelin finished with 112 total blocks on the season including 84 solos in the middle blocker position. Having a middle that can just go make a play and get a block is something every team wants to have, and that’s one reason why Presentation was so special this year. Kaelin helped the team to a district championship with 10 kills and 9 total blocks making her 21st in the state blocking wise! What a way to end your season. This girl will be missed!!
Addyson Crouch- From a small school called Pendleton County, Addyson Crouch became a blocking machine for her squad finishing with 113 total blocks! Crouch became that gritty, headstrong player for her team because they counted on her in the big-time situations to go get a stop at the net. A block against any team can be a game changer, and that’s exactly what Crouch needed to do for the squad. Crouch led her team to a district runner-up title where she had 14 total blocks which eventually made her 12th in the state in blocking numbers.
Avrey Rigney Avrey Rigney OH Madison Central | 2024 State KY – With a #28 finish in the state for most blocks, Avrey Rigney Avrey Rigney OH Madison Central | 2024 State KY , sophomore, was a star player for the Madison Central Lady Indians! Rigney had 115 blocks on the year and helped the team clench a district title against rival, Madison Southern. In that intense 5 setter, Rigney performed at a high level where she had 18 kills and 2 solo blocks. Rigney is a unique player because of her ability to hit and block from anywhere on the court. She has the ability to make herself known from every angle which will make her fun to watch for the next 2 years at Madison Central!
