With 22 kills for the match, Claxon and her South Webster teammates defeated Trimble 3-1. They improve to 24-1 overall and advance to the regional final to face Newark Catholic. Claxon took 52 swings and hit at a .231 clip. She also picked up 15 digs in the win. The senior is an athlete and has done a lot for this program over her four year career both with her arm in terminating nearly 800 total kills and running their offense as a setter at times early on. With over 300 total kills this season she has been one of the Jeeps’ primary point scoring threats. Claxon leads her team with 85 total service aces and was recently selected to the Southern Ohio Conference 1st team.
Avery Cox – 2023 | CHCA
The 5’7 junior had a career high 19 kills for CHCA in their tight 3-2 win over Cardington-Lincoln to advance to the regional finals. Averaging just shy of two kills per set on the season, Cox tied for team high honors in kills as she hit .333 for the match. She also collected 16 digs and served up four aces to add to her point scoring total. CHCA, 21-5 overall, faces Versailles in the regional final.
Eva Dittmar – 2024 | Tri-Valley
Dittmar has a been a significant factor for Tri-Valley all season as the 6’1 sophomore has averaged 3.4 kills per set and is terminating 50% of her attacking opportunities. She has a big arm and utilizes her length well with her contact point and can score the power she can generate when she gets to the ball on balance. She has been a consistent pin attacker and is equally effective from both sides of the court. The Scotties are 25-1 and next take on Bishop Hartley.
Katie Sowko – 2024 | Lake Catholic
Lake Catholic took down NDCL 3-1 behind a team high 13 kills from Sowko. The sophomore outside hitter has been a key factor for a balanced Cougars’ offense as she has averaged 2.5 kills per set for the season. Sowko benefits from her length and ability to challenge the block at a higher contact point. Added experience going forward, along with increased arm strength and aggressiveness, should see her production increase further over her career. The Cougars take on the Beaumont School in the regional final.
