Standout underclassmen at the Division 2 finals

While the Division 2 state champion, Notre Dame Prep, was led by a class of nine seniors, there were a lot of impressive underclassmen in the Division 2 semifinals.
North Branch relied heavily on the underclassmen, while Lakewood and Grand Rapids Christian also had some contributors.
Here’s the impact the top underclassmen did.
Alana Deshetsky Alana Deshetsky 5'8" | OH North Branch | 2024 State MI , So. OH North Branch: Deshetsky was inspiring with her play, especially considering she had a torn meniscus severely hamper her ability to move and jump. In the semifinal, Deshetsky had 11 kills, 20 digs and two aces. In the final, she had three kills, 15 digs and an ace.
Adrienne Greschaw Adrienne Greschaw 5'9" | S North Branch | 2024 State MI , So. S North Branch: Greschaw is a talented sophomore setter that works very well with the young North Branch hitters. She tallied 40 assists, 12 digs and three kills in the semifinal win over Lakewood. She followed that up with 19 assists and eight digs in the final with NDP.
Hailey Green Hailey Green 5'1" | DS/L North Branch | 2024 State MI , So. L North Branch: Another standout sophomore talent for North Branch, Green was all over the floor defensively this past weekend. She had 19 digs in the semifinal win and 18 digs in the finals with Notre Dame Prep.
Carley Piercefield Carley Piercefield 5'4" | DS/L Lakewood | 2024 State #90 Nation MI , So. L Lakewood: Piercefield has been a steady presence in the back row for Lakewood. She had 17 digs for the Vikings against North Branch in the D2 semifinal.
Kaela Chingwa, So. MH North Branch: The 6’2” sophomore middle tallied six kills and four solo blocks in the semifinal win over Lakewood. She followed that up with six kills and a block in the final with NDP.
Abby Pickard, Fr. S Lakewood: Pickard handled primary setting duties in the loss to North Branch and she played very well. Pickard had 38 assists, 13 digs, four kills and an ace for the Vikings. She’s got a bright future ahead.
Grace Spoelma Grace Spoelma 5'8" | S Grand Rapids Christian | 2024 State MI , So. L Grand Rapids Christian: Spoelma has been the defensive leader for the Eagles all season. She racked up 15 digs in the semifinal with Notre Dame Prep and also had five assists.
Clara Gyomory, So. RS North Branch: Another sophomore hitter for North Branch, Gyomory had eight kills with two digs and three assists blocks in the semifinal. She hit .353 in that effort. In the final, she added one kills and two digs.
Alivia Everitt, So. OH Lakewood: Everitt is due for an increased role in 2022. She put up seven kills, two digs, and two assisted blocks in the semifinal matchup with North Branch.
Hanna Bredeweg, So. DS/S Grand Rapids Christian: Bredeweg saw action in all four sets in the semifinal with Notre Dame Prep. She recorded three digs for the Eagles.
Brookelynn Franklin, So. S North Branch: Franklin was used primarily as a serving asset this weekend. She had a team-high three aces in the semifinal win over Lakewood.
