Emily Fowler- HRV 15 National Green
Let me set the scene here. I was walking around just watching everyone play, and then I glance over to see a kid being pulled back to pass the middle of the floor. Interesting. Then, I watch her get served deep and swing outside of the court to go hit on the left. She then calls for the ball and bangs it down line. This mystery girl turned out to be Emily Fowler. She hits outside for her squad and is exceptional at moving the ball around. Fowler loves to swing hard cross and then roll shot to the middle of the court because it keeps the defense on their toes.
Remmi Cooke- NKJV Blue
Helping lead her to team to a gold championship, Remmi Cooke was a go-to outside hitter this past weekend. Cooke has a live arm and is never scared to go swing, yet she’s also extremely smart. She knows when to take care of the ball if it’s not hittable. Cooke has a money shot where she sells a short tip but ends up pushing it over right back’s head which almost always lands her a kill. Personally, I loved when their team got a free ball because she would run into the middle spot and absolutely demolish a 2 ball. Also, when she gets to the service line, you have to watch out for her nasty jump floater that barely skims right over the net.
Ella Phillips- Oxford 15 Ren
Finishing third in the tournament, Oxford 15 Ren has a star outside hitter that helped them get there. Ella Phillips is a strong, versatile kid that simply swings as hard as she can cross. The block never scares her, and she finds a way to get a kill with any set. Phillips is their go-to and always works hard in transition to be an option. Plus, Phillips is very solid in the back row where they leave her in left back to pick up a lot of the trash. This outside hitter can truly do it all!
Caroline Peterson- BVA 15 Elite
When I first watched Caroline Peterson play, her team was down 17-24, and they rallied back to 21-24 with four service aces from Peterson herself. At 22-24, Peterson stepped up in middle back because there was a seam and effortlessly dug a huge outside attack. Her team ended up losing the set but fought back for the match win. Peterson is a fighter, a leader, and just a flat out player. She hits outside for the squad and adjusts so well to any set, so she can hit wherever she wants to go. Also, hitting line for her almost seems too easy. Her bail out shot that I really love is to tip, throw, or swing down the line because it gets the other team out of system. Peterson is just an efficient, consistent player and a force for her squad.
