Part 1: New 16s Age Group Athletes To Tag On UA
There are plenty of things I love covering at Triple Crown. From the high level talent, new athletes, exciting matches, the list goes on. I will be one of the writers taking on a National approach to Prep Dig where we will cover players across the country. Athletes do not need to be from one of our Prep Dig states in order to be written about. This past weekend I was watching teams from across the country, but definitely had a lens on players from the places I don’t get to with athletes from California, Texas, and others outside of the Midwest. The level of athleticism and physicality still amazes me of these up and coming 16s who still have plenty of volleyball left in their careers. Here is a look at some 2024s (and a 2025) from the 16s age group at Triple Crown this past weekend.
Suli Davis Suli Davis 6'1" | OH Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State #9 Nation TX – Drive Nation 16 Red (2025)
Davis is a six rotation outside from Drive Nation who can make an impact everywhere on the court. She is a solid defender who can serve receive and pass along with being a very active attacker. She has a presence about her on the court where she’s quietly confident, wanting the ball to go to her to do whatever she needs to score points. She’s playing up a level from her grad year of 2025. As she continues to polish her back court game and develop a variety of shots she is going to be one of the top 2025s to have on the radar.
Charlie Fuerbringer Charlie Fuerbringer 5'11" | S Mira Costa | 2024 State #2 Nation CA – Mizuno Long Beach 16 Rockstar
So smooth. Fuerbringer is the type of athlete who can do it all. There is definitely a beach style to her game where her all around skill is apparent where she can defend, run the show as a setter and is so solid around the net. She moves and anticipates extremely well whether it’s the second contact or when she swings, she has all the shots and knows how to use the block to her advantage. A definite swiss army knife type player who can do it all.
Making the rounds, more names to know from the 16s at @TCVolleyballNIT
Marae Reilly – CoJrs
Reese Messer – @dynastyvbc
Brianna Watson Brianna Watson 6'1" | OH Flower Mound | 2024 State #53 Nation TX – @MadfrogRecruit @MADFROGVBALL
Havyn Rolle – City— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) February 19, 2022
Havyn Rolle – City Volleyball 16 Gold
I have not seen CITY Volleyball play and I was extremely impressed. A lot of athletes in every position who can do a variety of positive things for their side of the net. In the middle is Havyn Rolle, who is extremely explosive out of the middle with an aggressive approach. She’s key to their dynamic offensive scheme and will be a 16s team who will be in the hunt for an Open bid.
Amanda Saeger Amanda Saeger 5'11" | S Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #125 Nation CA – Wave 16 Brennan
Wave 16 Brennan started the weekend off 0-2 in power pools, battled through some injuries and then caught a hot streak and advanced to the elite eight. This team is built on solid ball control and a solid middle attack. Amanda Seager is the setter who runs the show where she knows how to find her middles with a variety of tempos. She can also hold the middle and find her pins in the front and backrow. She keeps it simple and makes a lot of good things happen on her side of the net.
Isabel Clark Isabel Clark 6'2" | OH Mater Dei | 2024 State #66 Nation CA – Momentous VBC 16-Dan
What an exciting athlete. Clark was one of the strongest attackers in the 16s field and has so much raw athletic ability. This Momentous team was 3-0 in their powerpool on Saturday and made a major statement to the rest of the 16s field. This club out of Irvine, California had a 7-2 record at Triple Crown with wins over clubs that are perennial open level teams. Clark is a dual sports star on the basketball court as well where she can do a lot of special things once she jumps in the air.
Myah Sharfner and Mikayla Shepston – Arizona Storm 16 Thunder
Arizona Storm had a thrilling Sunday with plenty of tough matches starting with FC Elite out of Wisconsin where they went to three sets to start the day. They went on to defeat 1st Alliance and SG Roshambo to advance to the elite eight. Mikayla Shepston is a big time point scorer on the outside and Myah Sharfner is someone who can get her hands on the ball and distribute to a variety of attackers. Storm always finds a way, they have high expectations and that program knows how to win big matches.
