Pohaku 18-1 was able to stay in bid contention after day one going 2-1. They got what many teams consider the all-important first-match win of the day defeating Top Select in three sets. That opening day win wouldn’t be enough as they dropped their next two matches to finish 1-2 and third place in the pool knocking them out of bid contention this early in the qualifying season with minimal trickle-down opportunities to date. On the final day, Pohaku played A5 Mizuno 18-Boba in the first silver bracket match. They raced out to an early lead to take the first set 25-17. A5 found the momentum in the second to grab the set and force a decisive third where they stayed hot to defeat Pohaku 15-10.
18 Liberty
Pool Play went into day 2 with both Dynasty 18 Blue and Invasion 18 Black finishing in 4th place with 2-3 records. Both teams would play in Challenge round matches in an attempt to stay in the gold bracket and bid contention. Invasion dropped their match to TGV 18 Adidas in straight sets to advance to the Silver Bracket. Dynasty would also go down in their first match to Tstreet IE 18-Chris in two.
In bracket play, Dynasty couldn’t get their mojo back and finished the tournament with a loss to Mobile Storm. Dynasty would end up tied for 11th place with a 2-5 record. The Invasion team would get back to their winning ways by grabbing three consecutive wins en route to the Silver Bracket championship. Their first match was a 26-24, 25-20 Alliance 18 Moten. They needed three sets to take down Excel 18 White, including a 16-14 clinching set win. They finished the deal with a sweep of SKEVA and a 7th place finish.
18 American
HPSTL 18 Orange started day 2 with two impressive wins to put themselves in a good position to finish top 2 and advance to the gold bracket. They dropped their final pool play match to MJVA 18 Fields to finish runner-up and advance to the gold bracket.
