The 16 Open saw Dynasty 16 Black take the ultimate crown and a bid for July. Somehow going 10-0 on the weekend, Dynasty was on point all weekend especially with such a stacked field of competition. Even with the best of blockers in front of them, they prevailed!
Shutting it down, here are some of the top blockers in the 16 Open at the Mid-East Qualifiers.
Maria Happ (2024) | 6’3 MB | OTVA
En route to a top five finish at MEQs, Maria Happ was big throughout the weekend. Her block was pretty formidable and grabbing a lot of touches. When she wasn’t blocking, she was a constant threat on offense. Happ showed great comfortability running any type of play with her bread and butter being on the gap set.
Mallory Bohl (2024) | 6’3 MB | Legacy
Legacy couldn’t find their middles enough this weekend, but when they could they delivered quite nicely. Mallory Bohl had yet another solid showing at the qualifier. Known for her superb blocking, Bohl’s transition game is vastly improving as the season goes on, especially this weekend.

Johanna Tillman (2024) | 6’1 MB | Legacy
Opposite Bohl, comes in Johanna Tillman. A springy player in the middle, Johanna is great to watch elevate off the floor. Like her counterpart, Tillman couldn’t get the ball enough this weekend. She was terminating at a high efficiency and her blocking is looking much more defined as of late.
Julia Hunt (2024) | 6’2 MB | NKYVC
NKYVC has a plethora of high fliers on their side of the net and Julia Hunt leaves no room for argument on that statement. Hunt was playing well above the net all throughout the weekend. Whether it was her block causing troubles, or her quick transition play, Hunt was on the hunt for a bid!

Jada Ingram (2025) | 6’1 MB | Dynasty
There’s not enough good things you can say about this Dynasty squad, they are locked and loaded from top to bottom. Jada Ingram held down the fort in the middle and then some. Ingram lateral speed was quite impressive throughout the championship run. Her block was great and her slide was even better. One of the best slide attackers you’ll catch in this division.
Gracie Havlicek (2024) | 6’2 MB | Tribe
Like her other counterparts on this list, Gracie Havlicek likes to play her game fast, fast, FAST. No matter what it is, if it’s her block or her attacking, Havlicek is off the ground within a blink of an eye. She proved quite difficult to slow down throughout the weekend with the speed in which she plays with as well as the height she can reach.
Karlie Vogelheim (2024) | 6’0 MB | L2
Karlie Vogelheim was a pleasant surprise to see out of the middle for this L2 squad. Quite vocal, even if she didn’t get the ball, Vogelheim was successful at pulling some blocks off of her pin hitters this weekend. Now, when her number was called, she delivered beautifully.
Ella Boersema (2024) | 6’2 MB | Team Pineapple
A block you don’t ever want to come across is Ella Boersema. Boersema heads up a pretty large front line for Team Pineapple that caused fits for many attackers throughout the weekend. Don’t come across her block, you don’t want to meet her cannon of an arm either.
