Continue Reading2021 club season ended with Dynasty 15 Black standing atop the podium as top dog winning the open division in Las Vegas. A new year with many of the same faces pits the now 16 Black team as a favorite to repeat in 2022. They have put the nation on alert after winning the 2022 edition of the Triple Crown NIT against some of the top teams in the country. They dropped their opening match of the tournament in three sets to TAV 16 Black and didn’t taste a loss the remainder of the tournament taking down the likes of MadFrog, 1st Alliance, Wave, and Power ‘] along the way.
If that wasn’t enough, this past weekend they finished Heart of America Power League with a 15-0 record after three playdates. Did we mention they didn’t drop a set the entire Power League? On the final day, they took out Power ‘] 16-1 for the second time in consecutive weeks after downing them at Triple Crown. This team is special and has all the pieces to make a run for another national title for the Kansas club.
Pins
This team features three of the top pins in the entire country in their respective classes. On the left side, both pins are ranked among the top on both sides of the state line. Unfortunately, the defensive specialist doesn’t get a lot of work on this team because both of them play six rotations to allow for a strong back-row attack. Skyler Pierce Skyler Pierce 6'3" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #4 Nation KS and Carlie Cisneros Carlie Cisneros 6'0" | OH Liberty North | 2024 State #7 Nation MO are both long, smooth players who continue to add to their game defensively. Both have tremendous shot selections and great court vision. On the right side, 2025 Abigail Mullen Abigail Mullen 6'3" | RS Liberty | 2025 State #3 Nation MO is already a top prospect in her class and will be heavily recruited when the rules allow. She brings great size to the right side and brings a punch behind her swings. Maya Houseworth Maya Houseworth 5'11" | RS St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 KS brings depth to this team and contributes when her number is called.
Middles
Jada Ingram Jada Ingram 5'11" | MB Washburn Rural | 2024 State #61 Nation KS was an added face to this team this season and brings more size and athleticism to this roster. She has the ability to fill any role across the net. Piper Newton Piper Newton 5'11" | MB St. Teresa's Academy | 2024 State KS and Saida Jacobs Saida Jacobs 6'1" | MB Mill Valley | 2025 State KS returned this year in the middle. Both players bring length and their own strengths to this team. They are both tremendous blockers and move very well laterally. Their ability to go quick helps catch the defensive unprepared for their offensive attacks.
Setters
Reese Messer Reese Messer 5'11" | S St. James | 2025 State #6 Nation KS had a tremendous fall for the St. James state tournament run and has a great connection with the hitters on this roster. Her ability to read defensive and find the best match-up keeps this well-oiled machine running. Lauren Wright Lauren Wright 5'8" | S Liberty North | 2024 State MO has also shown her ability to run the show and also adds a strong defensive presence.
Defenders
One of the main reasons this team was so successful last year was behind the player of libero Ryan McAleer Ryan McAleer 5'5" | DS/L Blue Valley | 2024 State #29 Nation KS . We don’t toss the word “dynamic” around lightly, that’s what she is along the back row. She takes over half the court and makes it look easy. Her ability to set a second ball also keeps this team in system and allows them to score points many teams would give up on. As we mentioned earlier, only one DS is needed on this team with two six rotation pins but Claire Jones Claire Jones 5'9" | DS/L Blue Valley | 2024 State KS holds it down when she comes in for the opposite. She is another defender who keeps balls off the ground and is not afraid to sit down on missiles coming her way. We talk often about the hitters but this team will go as far as these two studs behind the block.
