Over the last 12 months, we have seen some great setting play from the Class of 2025. Here’s 10 names to keep on your radar (in alphabetical order).
Sydney Bates, Portage Northern/Deadfrog: Bates has shown a lot of all-around skill, being able to step up as a hitting option at the varsity level while having the athleticism and precision to play the setting position as well.
Ella Craggs Ella Craggs 5'9" | S Northville | 2025 State #127 Nation MI , Mercy/Michigan Elite: Craggs was a great 1-2 combo at setter and hitter with Flynn at Mercy. Both have dynamic skill sets that make them impactful anywhere on the floor.
Amelia Czarnik, OLSM/Unified: Czarnik has a great opportunity to lead a newer St. Mary’s program. It has forced her into a big leadership role early on and she has taken that and grown in her confidence and execution.
Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI , Mercy/Legacy: Flynn is going to be one of the top prospects in the Class of 2025 nationwide. She’s got the size at 6’2”, along with great athleticism and instincts. Her mixture of setting and hitting for Mercy shows she’s a dominant all-around player.
Marissa Gutow, Fraser/Monsters: Gutow is a solid server that also is growing into her spot as a team leader on the floor. She’s been thrown into the varsity fire early, but that should pay off in years to come.
Mya Kattula, Notre Dame Prep/Unified: Kattula comes from the great Notre Dame Prep program that has produced Division 1 talent at the setter position. She’s getting great coaching and learning quickly to apply new facets to her game each month.
Abby Pickard, Lakewood/FaR Out: Pickard got a chance to compete on the big stage of Kellogg Arena last fall for Lakewood and was able to rise to the occasion as a freshman. It’s a great sign for a young player that has worked with a lot of top hitters to help raise her game.
Samantha Roffi Samantha Roffi 5'6" | S Garden City | 2025 State MI , Garden City/Michigan Elite: Roffi plays with a lot of effort and energy. That really has paid off with her defensive play. She applies that effort to her setting, which is helping her make big strides in her game.
Kelly Sargee, Eisenhower/Monsters: Sargee sets a nice ball and plays with a calm presence. She’s got a diverse skillset and delivers a great serve.
Natalie West, Stevenson/Team D: West got some varsity experience this year and showcased a bright future. She’s steady with hitting her spots and doesn’t get rattled by the increased speed of the game.
