There was definitely no lack of excitement. You could feel the energy as soon as you walked into the convention center. The players came with one thing on their mind and the following athletes made us stop and notice, earning them a spot on the All-Ohio Tournament Team.
All Ohio Tournament Team – 16s
Julia Sprecher Julia Sprecher 5'10" | OH Magnificat | 2024 State OH – AVC CLE Rox 16 Red
A powerfull outside that could put some heat behind the ball. She had a fast approach with an equally fast arm swing, causing a lot of trouble for the other side of the net. She was able to score consistently for her team and make big plays on defense as well, digging up a hard driven ball or a quick dink.
Madison Cugino – Mintonette Sports m.61
Madison is a quick-moving libero that can get her feet and hips to the ball and keep her team in system all day. She has high energy and is a great communicator on the court, making the back row run smoothly. The other teams are wise to keep the ball away from her on serve receive.
Samantha Pavlak – CinciVB Academy 16-1
A middle that used her size to get up above the net and put up some blocks as well as big swings. She had great timing with her setter running a slide. She was smooth transitioning off the net and made herself available as a hitter at all times.
Belle Groomes Belle Groomes 6'0" | S St. Joseph Academy | 2025 State #38 Nation OH – AVC CLE Rox 16 Red
A setter that was locked in with her hitters, making it easy for the offense to go on long runs. She was able to get the ball to where it needed to be and wasn’t predictable on where she was going to send it. She communicated well and was a great leader on this AVC team helping them get to their 9th place finish.
Faith Grafton – Mintonette Sports m.62
If she passed anything lower than a 3, I didn’t see it. She was on fire with her serve receive, I was a little confused as to why the other team was serving to her, but I am sure that her coach didn’t mind. She was quick laterally and was able to get touches on almost everything that crossed the net. When she went to the service line, she continued to be an asset with multiple aces and a tough serve that kept the other side out of system.
