Continue ReadingIt was a fantastic weekend to watch some of the greatest teams in the nation competing for their last chance to earn a bid to Nationals. I was very impressed with some of the great talented liberos who attracted attention during this weekend. These players went all out and played a big role on their teams.
Taylor Holly – 5’5 – Libero – Delaware United VBC 17
Taylor can take powerful swings and can position herself right behind the ball very well. Taylor has a good platform with a great ability to read the ball. Taylor is a scrappy defender who had some great saves throughout the weekend.
.Amy Kastanowski – 5’6 – Libero – VA Juniors 17
Amy has impressive footwork in the back-row and is always moving and playing with the ball. This helps her when reacting to heavy swings, especially from the middle. She brings a lot of energy to the team and is not afraid to hit the floor. Amy’s team was close to earning a bid to Nationals.
Elle Jubeck Elle Jubeck 5'8" | DS/L St Mary Ryken | 2024 State VA – 5’7 – Libero – Virginia Elite 16
In the majority of the games I watched Elle, she was keeping her team in the system. She is very calm and has the ability to cover a lot of court without moving too much. Elle was not afraid when it was necessary to hit the floor and she never gave up on the ball when she thought she could save it.
Mailinh Godschall Mailinh Godschall 5'7" | DS/L Centennial (MD) | 2024 State #183 Nation VA – 5’6 – Libero – Metro 16 Travel
Mailinh is an unbelievable libero. She beats the hitters to the spots they want to hit. Mailinh kept her team on the lead because of how well her defense was. She knows how to read the hitters, which allows her to cover a lot of ground in the back row. She is the MVP for her team.
Kadi Pynchon Kadi Pynchon 5'6" | DS/L Flint Hill | 2025 State VA – 5’6 – Libero – Virginia Elite 15
Kadi passed 2.3 at this tournament. This number tells you how good she was over the weekend. Kadi has one of the best passing forms I’ve seen. Her lateral movement was measured every time someone served to her seam and her defense was very elegant, which made many hitters upset when she dug their ball. She was not afraid to face a hitter without a block. You could see how competitive she was by the way she acted on the court.
