There are a lot of talented athletes who have the skills and the potential to play at the collegiate level. The JVA World Challenge is one of the most competitive tournaments in the country. It brings in teams from every part of the country. Virginia Elite is the only club that is going to represent Virginia in this tournament. There are a few athletes that deserve to be highlighted for their skills.
Rosina Parker Rosina Parker 5'11" | OH Robinson | 2023 State VA – 6’0 – Outside Hitter – Virginia Elite 17
The #17 in the class of 2023 shows a lot of improvement since the rankings came out. Nina attracts a lot of college coaches’ eyes with her performance. She is versatile and can perform on either pin. It is easy to find Nina around her teammates and her skills speak for themselves. She is not the tallest or the loudest, but she is the most athletic and skillful player on the team. Nina has an extremely high volleyball IQ and knows how to manage every situation in the game. She is a six rotation player with the ability to play any role, defensively or offensively.
Madison Koeller Madison Koeller 6'0" | S Millbrook | 2023 State VA – 6’0 – Setter – Virginia Elite 17
It is surprising that Madison is not committed yet. The # 5 in the class of 2023 has all the qualities to play at the college level. She has very smooth hands, as well as great footwork. She is a great leader on the court and her coach trusts her to make the right decision for her team. According to Coach Stout, “Madison is coachable. She has a strong understanding of her position with the ability to distribute the ball across the net without an issue.”
Nala Cornegy Nala Cornegy 6'3" | MB Episcopal | 2023 State VA – 6’3 – Middle Hitter – Virginia Elite 17
If you are still in need of a middle, Nala is a great option for that position, as she is 6’3 with an impressive vertical touch and 10’2 approach. She is very dynamic at the net. Nala is one of the middles that can contribute in her first year in college. She has been improving since the beginning of the season and I cannot wait to see how she will play by the end of her senior year. According to Coach Stout, “Nala is doing a lot of work that sometimes goes unnoticed, such as pulling blocks for the pins and making smart choices on hitting.” Nala is an important contributor to her team and they rely on her for offense and defense.
Kennedy Seekford Kennedy Seekford 5'5" | DS/L Dominion | 2023 State VA – 5’5 – Libero – Virginia Elite 17
Kennedy is a gifted volleyball player. She is one of the best liberos and can read and anticipate where the ball goes. She is a solid passer and defender, as well as is very impressive with her passing techniques and ability to adjust to different hitters. She is quick and able to make plays with her hand. Kennedy is not afraid to hit the floor when necessary.
Alice Holoubek Alice Holoubek 6'3" | MB Bishop O'Connell | 2024 State VA – 6’2 – Middle Hitter – Virginia Elite 16
Alice is very dangerous on the net, especially when she beats the block. She has a heavy arm when it comes to attacking the ball. Her volleyball IQ is high, which allows her to make good decisions when it comes to blocking. The 6’2 middle has a lot of potential to become one of the best middles.
Zoe Strachan Zoe Strachan 6'0" | RS Forest Park | 2024 State VA – 6’0 – Right Side – Virginia Elite 16
Zoe knows how to put the ball down. The lefty has a good idea when it comes to hitting from the right side. Her setter does a very good job feeding her the ball. When Zoe is on, it is hard to shut her down. Keep your eyes on her because she will become one of the best opposite players.
Chloe Hokenson Chloe Hokenson 6'1" | S Langley | 2024 State VA – 6’1 – Setter – Virginia Elite 16
Chloe is rising as one of the best setters in the 2024 class of Virginia. She has improved her setting techniques and gained more confidence. She has great hands and is a true floor leader. If you have a chance to watch her, you can see how calm is she. She is very competitive and, at the same time, she encourages and motivates her teammates. Her understanding of her position sets up her team for success.
Elle Jubeck Elle Jubeck 5'8" | DS/L St Mary Ryken | 2024 State VA – 5’7 – Libero – Virginia Elite 16
Elle is a stabilizer for the team and does not show any emotion. She is a hard worker and has a great platform in serve/receive. She makes this position look easy by the way she plays. She is very confident and someone the team looks to for steady assurance. She is consistently one of the top passers and has a high ceiling for improvement.
