There were a lot of great battles and plenty of exciting rallies to keep us all on the edge of our seats. The following players stood out on their teams and earned a spot on the Top Performers list.
Top Performers 16s
Darbi Ricketts – OPVC 16 Fancett
Darbi looked to be the shortest player on this OPVC team but she definitely played like the biggest on her team. Her speed was absolutely amazing combined with putting literally her whole body into her swing. It was a monstrous swing with such power behind it, the other teams had a hard time handling her. I am sure she is on a lot of coaches radar.
Alexis Grissett – Mintonette Sports m.62
Grissett was a fun setter to watch. She has a great jump set and her placement of the ball was right where her hitters needed it. Running a 6-2, she was a key hitter when she rotated to the front row, making her a very valuable player for this team. She was a great leader on the court and was always smiling and keeping her team motivated. It’s nice to watch players that just seem to enjoy being out there on the court.
Rebecca Wright – Mintonette Sports m.61
Using her height and tremendous arm reach, she was able to get it done for this Mintonette team on both sides of the ball. Contacting the ball high and hitting over blocks helped her team win the whole tournament. She was a go-to player and took big swing as well as putting up big blocks making the games very exciting.
Jessica Neiman – Maverick 16 Elite
A powerfull pin hitter that was quick off the net, always being available on offense. She had a strong arm swing that was key to helping her team secure a second place finish at this tournament. All around dynamic athlete that I’m sure we will be hearing more about.
Julia Oster – Maverick 16 Elite
A fast-moving libero that could get to anywhere on the court and pass 3 balls all day. She was a great communicator and motivator for this energetic team. She kept the back row in check and made big plays during long rallies keeping the momentum on her side of the court.
