Those girls in the under 16 to 19 group will train from May 6-8 at the Athletico Center in Northbrook, Illinois. Those girls in the Under 15 group will train at the Berto Center in Deerfield, Illinois.
Our Chesapeake Region National Team Trainees are:
Alexis Ewing Alexis Ewing 6'3" | OH Bullis | 2025 State VA (Virginia Juniors 15/Bullis) OH 6’1″ – She is number 9 in our 2025 Virginia rankings. Alexis is the daughter of basketball great Patrick Ewing. Her mother, Cheryl Weaver, was also a pretty good volleyball player, having played for Long Beach State and the United States National team. Those are some pretty good athletic bloodlines. As a freshman Alexis was voted to the Washington Post All Met team. She will be training with the Under 15/16 age group.
Renee Jones Renee Jones 6'5" | RS Flint Hill | 2025 State #132 Nation FL and Ryla Jones Ryla Jones 6'4" | MB Flint Hill | 2024 State #80 Nation VA (Metro 16/Flint Hill) – I put the two together because they are twins. They were ranked 4 and 8 in our 2024 Virginia rankings. Ryla is a 6’2″ middle while Renee is a 6’5″ right side. More good bloodlines here since their sister is Rainelle Jones, a 6’3″ middle who played for Maryland and was one of the top blockers in the NCAA last year. Both will be training with the U16/U17 age group.
Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA (Metro 16/Holy Cross) OH 6’4″ – She is number one in our 2024 Virginia rankings. If she is not one of the top ten recruits in the 2024 class I would be surprised. What college coach would not want a 6’4″ outside who can pass, play solid defense and bury the ball during clutch time? She does everything so well that I forgot about her serve. Emerson was also voted first team All Met and co player of the year for the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) as a sophomore. USA volleyball thought so highly of her that they have this 16 year old train with the U18/U19 age group.
Brielle Kemavor Brielle Kemavor 6'5" | MB Charles J. Colgan | 2023 State #148 Nation VA (Metro 17/Colgan) MB 6’5″ – We have her 18 in our 2023 Virginia rankings. After watching her play I rated her the top middle in the area. One of the more intimidating players you will find on the court. Brielle was voted second team All Met, leading her Colgan High School team to their first state championship. Brielle has committed to BYU. She will also be training with the U18/U19 age group.
Good luck to the girls named above. May the Olympics be in your future. For those girls who were not selected let these girls be your inspiration.
