Michigan has a lot of impressive play in the middle, with plenty players of size and length that can step into a college game right away.
Here’s a look at five middles that coaches should be jumping at to land a commitment.
Kam Burbridge Kam Burbridge 6'1" | MB Grand Haven | 2023 State MI , Grand Haven/MVA
Burbridge is a very athletic middle that has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years. She is a big force on the block and can get to a lot of opposing attacks. She’s also improved her technique on her swing to become a more consistent finisher. Just a gifted natural athlete, college coaches should be excited at the prospect of just how much better she can get at the next level.
Aubreigh Oswald Aubreigh Oswald 6'2" | MB Lowell | 2023 State MI , Lowell/FaR Out
Oswald has something all college coaches should be excited about, resiliency. After a promising freshman season with Lowell, a knee injury kept her off the floor as a sophomore. She worked hard to rehab and come back stronger last fall, which she did. He hit over .320 from the middle and displayed a lot of added dynamics to her game. Oswald already has the mental toughness to be an elite player for a college program.
Neele’ge’ Sims Neele’ge’ Sims 6'1" | MB Corunna | 2023 State MI , Corunna/Michigan Elite
Like Oswald, you can’t say enough about the mental toughness of Sims. She’s been through a lot of adversity and has found herself stronger on the court. Last fall she really took on a lot of swings for Corunna, but proved she can handle the workload. She also showcased a solid all-around game with a promising serve and defensive arsenal. Her diverse game and work ethic makes her easy to root for and she’d be a great asset to college teams around the country.
Makenzie Ritsema Makenzie Ritsema 6'0" | MB Grand Rapids Christian | 2023 State MI , Grand Rapids Christian/FaR Out
Ritsema is set for a breakout 2022 prep year, which should garner a lot more attention from college coaches. She’s been part of a deep GRC hitting roster in year’s past, but now gets her chance to be one of the featured arms in 2022. Her biggest asset has been her dominant blocking. She averaged over one a set last year, racking up more blocks than kills. That probably won’t be the case in 2022, but it still lets coaches know how much of an asset she has been in limited action.
Kennedy Arp Kennedy Arp 6'0" | MB South Christian | 2023 State MI , South Christian/FaR Out
Arp has a lot of quickness for the position and she’s able to use a lot of different arm angles to finish points. She reads the court really well and has a big jump to get above the defense. Arp adds a high energy level to the team on the floor as well. Her teammates really seem to feed off her play and highlight-reel kills.
