There will be 48 talented teams from across the country competing in this awesome tournament and hundreds of college coaches in attendance. Southern California will be well represented with two awesome teams in the 16 Freedom Division. It will be a tournament of amazing volleyball and I couldn’t be more excited to cover it in person. We will be previewing a few of the players that will be showcasing their abilities for these awesome California teams. They are some of the best players in the 2024 grad class. Let’s meet a few of the talented players who college coaches need to watch.
Tstreet Inland Empire 16 Andy
They are currently 34-27 overall and have played some great competition all year long. They are currently ranked as the 23rd best team in the Southern California region according to AES results. 16 Andy finished 9th overall in the Liberty division of the Red Rock Rave Qualifier in Las Vegas. They won their bid via the SCVA Regional Bid tournament in which they placed 9th. Setter Lauren Nguyen is small but super fast as she runs all over the court to be in perfect position to jump set her hitters. She runs a great fast 5-1 offense and incorporates her middles very well in their offensive system. I also love how scrappy she is on the defensive end. She lets very little fall near her zone in right back. Middle Learden Lee is big and strong for her squad. She hits a very hard quick set that is difficult to slow down. Marlee Arrington is someone who college coaches need to watch out for as she is a huge target for a setter out of the middle. She has a lot of upper body strength to crush the ball on demand. Selayah Ramirez is a small but high flying outside. She has great hang time during her attack which makes it difficult to time on the block. This team has a lot of promise as they run their middles early and often and can make some noise in the division. Stay tuned for more as I cover them at Nationals in Indy later this month.
Seal Beach 16 Blue
They are currently 18-24 overall and are eager to prove themselves amongst the best in the nation. Seal Beach 16 Blue finished 31st overall in the tough USA division of the Red Rock Rave Qualifier in Las Vegas. They won their bid via the Southern California Regional Bid tournament. Chloe Pravednikov is the star of the show. Most will see her sheer size and stop to watch. She will garner a lot of attention and it will be due to her power and smart shot making abilities. When I watched her play at Red Rock it was definitely warranted as Seal Beach was able to score in a variety of ways. The way they fed her the ball even out of the back row shows me just how much respect her squad has in her offensive abilities. She is a true six rotation outside as she does a great job defensively out of middle back covering a lot of ground with her defensive range. Josephine Gore caught my eye because she was on the roster as a middle but she was setting. She is a very tall setter who should garner some attention based on both her height and the way the ball comes out of her hands. Miss Gore wowed me with her ability to dish the rock so well. Noalani Nuez does a great job for her club team in the back row. She patrols middle back and doesn’t let much score on her. She has excellent ball control and is a solid piece of the puzzle. Kylie Grundman is a solid contributor on the offensive end by swinging very hard on every swing.
I will be in attendance at nationals and will try to cover as many players/teams as I can. Be sure to share your schedules with me on Twitter once they become live. There are some other great players that we will be covering during this amazing tourney. Stay tuned to see who plays well and deserves kudos as we will be writing articles on how they perform.
