This will feature the best of the best players in the entire country and we couldn’t be more excited to run it. Over the past 4 years, Prep Dig showcases have hosted over 2,500 prospects in front of hundreds of college coaches from across the country. In addition to watching the showcase in-person or via BallerTV, coverage of this event will be made available to hundreds of our college coach subscribers on PrepDig.com.
This series of articles will preview some amazing players who are already signed up for the Showcase. Seeing these players in person is going to give us a perfect perspective of how they move, how the ball rebounds off of their platform or hands, and other intricate aspects of their skill-sets. Here are a few players that I cannot wait to see live in person and take them through drills.
Alexys James [2025] 5-10 Setter/Right Side (HS: Jordan/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Alexys is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on my watch list to see where she stacks up against the rest of the list. She plays for Jordan High School and also for the vaunted Houston Skyline volleyball club program. This young lady can absolutely ball on the court. She doubles as a setter and a right side and is equally a threat at both. Her strong frame allows her to push the ball to any location with ease. It also allows her to be a solid threat at the net both blocking and attacking. In her freshman season on varsity at Jordan High she has already amassed 24 blocks, 83 assists, 32 aces, 95 digs, and 186 kills. Because of these stats, she made first team all-district and also was named to the Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Associations 5A team. I am very high on this youngster to do some damage at the showcase and hopefully break into the rankings when I update them in a few weeks. She shows a lot of promise and is extremely athletic on the court. There is nothing she cannot do with the ball.
Caitlin Hefner Caitlin Hefner 6'2" | MB Westlake | 2025 State TX [2025] 6-1 Middle (HS: Westlake/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Caitlin is currently ranked as the 17th best overall prospect and 4th best middle in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Austin Westlake High School and for the awesome Austin Juniors. I wrote an article on her earlier in the year and here is a little refresher on what I wrote, “I watched her very closely in Kansas City at the Triple Crown NIT and she was very impressive. Miss Hefner’s size and blocking ability is one of her greatest attributes. When I watched her team in Kansas City they were trying to push the middles at a true zero tempo which was impressive. She drives her feet super hard into the ground to create vicious momentum. Her length in her extremities allows her to be a force on both ends of the court. If Austin Juniors continues to have her as a key factor in their offense, they will go very far. Stay tune to more on Caitlin as we will be watching very closely this weekend at the Tour Finals.” She did not disappoint any time I watched her this season. She is still growing as a player and has a very high ceiling in the middle position. It will be a good test to see how she does against some of the best players in the nation at this showcase. Stay tuned to read more on Miss Hefner from our coverage at the showcase and at nationals.
Nalani Childers [2024] 5-4 Libero (HS: Los Alamitos/Club: Seal Beach/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Nalani is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but we are eager to watch her in person at the showcase to see where she ranks amongst the field. She plays for los Alamitos High School and also club volleyball for Seal Beach. Her expertise is in serve receive in which she holds her platform well after contact to ensure consistent angles for delivery of the ball. She keeps her arms well away from her body before contact to ensure that she is able to create a perfect angle on the pass. She has a very compact frame but is built for the libero position as she moves very quickly on the ground to set up for serve receive and defense. While most ball control players have a tough time moving backwards for the deep serve, Miss Childers shows great body control in her posture moving back for the deep ball. She does not lift her shoulders up while moving back which helps her serve receive stay forward toward her setter. I will keep my eye on her during the showcase and at nationals.
