Continue ReadingOnly about a month and half away, volleyball will be in season for the 2022 season. Once July 15th arrives, most high schools will begin practicing. Teams will likely attend summer leagues and team camps before July 15th. We are going to take a look at a handful of players we think will have a huge senior season for the respective school teams.
Ella Drake Ella Drake 5'11" | OH Regent | 2023 State OK – She plays for the state runner up from last season, Regent Prep in Tulsa. She plays for the UPVBC 17 Open team that looks similar to the Monstars from Space Jam, a very intimidating group of athletes. With multiple 6’ plus front row players and some bouncy pins, this team is an impressive team to watch warm up. Ella fits right in that mix, hitting mostly on the right side in club but in school ball hits outside. With the departure of OU commit, Beth Bayless, Drake will pick up more of the sets in the match. Couple this with playing on a high level club team and really developing her control, she could have an amazing senior year and help Regent Prep make it back to state.
Olivia Vance Olivia Vance 5'10" | OH Bixby | 2023 State OK – She plays for Bixby high school, who has been knocking on the door of being a top 10-15 team in 6A. She also plays for the UPVBC 17 Open team. She is one of two big hitters on the outside for them. Her school team is also losing their other outside hitter, so she will be called upon more but she definitely is looking forward to that game plan and rise to the challenge. Her college recruitment will likely really kick start soon. There are a ton of teams that would really benefit from a big hitter that can also be a legit back row presence.
Payton Robbins– She plays for 6A Sand Springs. She was a 6 rotation outside for both her school team and her club team, Ok Redline. Over the past year she really developed the ability to take the ball down the line and work an off speed shot in the mix. This has opened up her hitting range and made more court available to be attacked. She also has the ability to be a threat from the service line with some intense velocity. Look for her to help guide the Sandites back into the top 15 rankings.
Jenna Houk Jenna Houk 5'9" | OH Deer Creek | 2023 State OK – She plays for a top 6A high school in Edmond Deer Creek. She plays for Peak 17EP, who is littered with college level players. Jenna has already committed to play the next level with Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She is a very controlled and cerebral player. She sees the court very well and has the ability to put it where she wants to. She does a great job of transitioning quickly off the net, allowing her to approach with power on almost every play.
We look forward to covering more players and teams this coming school season. Oklahoma has taken a big step this club season. This will make for even better matchups in the coming months.
