This year will be no different, and it is unfortunate that only one of these programs will make it out of their sectional.
FISHERS
The Tigers have always—and I mean ALWAYS—had 20-wins seasons, while playing one of the toughest schedules in the state. Offensively, they’re led by Ava Vickers Ava Vickers 6'0" | MB Fishers | 2023 State #107 Nation IN (’23, 6-0 MB, Indiana commit), a springy and fast middle that uses her super-long arms to defend at a plus level while attacking just as efficiently both in front of and behind her setter. JaNyah Henderson JaNyah Henderson 5'11" | MB Cy Ranch | 2023 TX (’23, 5-11 MB) is a bigger-than-she-looks middle that has already surpassed ten feet in her attack touch and recently earned a bronze medal at GJNCs in the 17 National division. The offense goes through those two, as they combine to return a 5+ kps/.350+ attack line for Coach Peek. One x-factor (among many) for the Tigers has to be Lucy Kay Lucy Kay 6'1" | MB Fishers | 2024 State IN (’24, 6-1 MB/RS), who has that natural ability to make this game of ours look easy. Her size and length will give teams fits in the fall. Setting this three-headed monster of an offense is Margo Hernandez Margo Hernandez 5'10" | S Fishers | 2023 State IN (’23, 5-10 S, South Alabama commit). She, like club teammate JaNyah, medaled in the postseason and even got postseason honors at AAUs. When in system, Margo runs easily the fastest offense in the state, and has already found a great rhythm with multiple attackers this summer.
HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN
On the other side of town, literally, are the Royals, who always butt themselves into the state-title-contender conversation year after year. This year should be one of their finest in recent memory, and that’s saying a lot. Lauren Harden Lauren Harden 6'3" | OH Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State #36 Nation IN (’24, 6-3 OH) is, far-and-away, the physical alpha and omega of this program. Her recent stint with the US National Training Team, along with her 10’+ attack touch, make her an unstoppable physical force for HSE. The quiet, yet more efficient pin attacker is Avery Hobson Avery Hobson 6'1" | OH Hamilton Southeastern | 2023 State IN (’23, 6-0 OH, Duquesne commit), who brings her 3+ kps/.300+ attack line to the fray as an exceptional complement to Lauren. I like another attacker on this team, Tiffany Snook Tiffany Snook 6'2" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State #186 Nation IN (’24, 6-2 MB), whose length and speed got kicked up a notch while training at Munciana this past spring. The quarterback for this squad? Macy Hinshaw Macy Hinshaw 5'9" | S Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State #75 Nation IN (’24, 5-9 S) is the answer. Seemingly every year, this young lady has played up an age group in club at Circle City, and has high and fast hands to go along with superior athleticism. That constant and consistent training on open-level teams one year ahead of her has Macy as one of my top setters in the state.
