Every time we release a rankings update, new names are bound to appear. That’s certainly the case with the Nebraska 2024s, as we’ve plugged in a few more players to know after the club season. Better yet, the quickly approaching high school season will provide so many more opportunities to grow the list even more. Stay tuned, because the grind never stops.
Now, here’s a quick look at some new additions to the 2024 rankings.
Hiatt has burst onto the Nebraska scene this year and has shown plenty of backcourt aptitude during this year’s club season. Lincoln-area defensive specialists will likely be quite a conversation topic this fall, and here’s another one to know.
Misko gets the job done regardless of rotation. She’s a reliable attacking outlet on the pipe and will bring the same consistency in the frontcourt. Don’t forget about Misko’s presence in serve receive, either.
We’ve talked a lot about setters who can make a big impact in right-back floor defense, and Person definitely belongs in that category. Aside from running a consistent offense with Nebraska Juniors, this North Star prep athlete is not afraid to absorb some contact in the back row and keep her team in long rallies.
Poloncic had no problem putting away some tough swings for 16 Bravo this year. The DC West athlete has a nice approach on the left pin and brings a smooth arm swing to score with authority.
Schuppan joins the large group of Club Legacy middles on this feature, and she brings a bit of her own unique style to the gym. The 16 Bravo athlete brought some impressive power to the net and will keep building on that success in coming seasons.
Slaymaker is another athlete in a long line of Nebraska Juniors athletes that can play either outside hitter or defensive specialist. Players with that skillset are always a valuable asset, and Slaymaker’s progress with 16 Black lands her on the newest 2024 rankings.
Highlights
This feature will undoubtedly highlight the strength of the Nebraska Juniors backcourt. VanBorkum was a steady contributor for 16 Red this year, and she largely made her mark in left-back or right-back. Digging down the line was VanBorkum’s specialty, and we hope to see a little more of that soon.
Vogler makes an appearance in the 2024 rankings after taking a step forward on the left pin with 16 Red this year. The fall presents a new opportunity, too, as Vogler’s Elmwood-Murdock team found great success at the state championships last year. New leaders will need to rise up for that squad, and Vogler is a good candidate.
Multi-sport athletes seem to thrive at Lincoln Pius X, and Weigel is just another example. On the volleyball court, this well-rounded athlete made some frontcourt contributions with Nebraska Juniors in addition to being a strong backcourt defender.
Woehler will likely be one of several River City players that we add this year with successive rankings updates. Her presence in the middle was fun to watch for 16 Navy, and now she has a chance to build her stock further this fall.
