The entire state is taking huge steps forward and we are starting to see the fruits of their labors. We are pumped for the 2022 high school season. Please stay tuned and tell your friends about all the great coverage that is to come.
The voting for these polls will end July 9th. The top five players from each of the four polls will be placed into a final poll. Let’s take a look at a few of the top vote-getters from the 6A East Side poll.
Kiya Colvin– She is currently leading the poll with 18,309 total votes. This club season, she played for UPVBC 16 Open, a team that finished as the top-ranked Oklahoma team from our region and ended the season with 62 wins. That is 12 more than the second-ranked Oklahoma team. She plays for Owasso High School. She helped lead this team to state and nearly upset the powerhouse Bishop Kelley in the first round. Kiya exploded on the scene with her power and athleticism. She is very quick laterally for her size and brings a quick arm to all her swings. As a middle, she creates real problems for opponents and demands a ton of attention when she gets to the front row. She has only improved both her skills and athleticism in the past year. Look for her to continue to rise and help Owasso return to the state tournament. She will likely be moving into the 2024 rankings soon!
Kynli Kirkendoll Kynli Kirkendoll 6'0" | MB Jenks | 2024 State OK – She is currently 2nd in the poll with 12,309 total votes. Only a freshman this past season, she started at times for the state champs, Jenks Trojans. She made an immediate impact this year for them with her crazy vertical and reach. She quickly picked up the skills by being such a high-character individual and one of the most coachable athletes I have seen in person. She has a very high ceiling and could be a cornerstone for the Trojans for years to come. She played club for possibly the best club team relative to their age in the entire state, with Tulsa Power 15-1. They made it all the way to the gold bracket (Final 8) at the Junior National Tournament.
Jada Bishop Jada Bishop 6'0" | OH Owasso | 2024 State OK – She is currently sitting in 3rd place in the poll with 9,879 total votes. She is the second player to be hailing from the up-and-coming Owasso Rams. She typically hits OH for both her high school and club team. She is currently ranked as the 7th best outside in the 2024 class. This is already a loaded class for Oklahoma but definitely for Owasso. I wouldn’t be shocked to see her scoot up the list some. She has really taken steps forward in her volleyball IQ and maturity over the past year. Look for her and her teammates to be a strong machine working hard together to get back to state and go one step further than last year.
Kirsten Harper– Make it three out of four top vote-getters to be from Owasso. She is currently sitting at 4th overall with 9,879 total votes. She followed in the foots steps of a senior All-State libero last season and did a fantastic job. She is a hard-working athlete that loves to fly around. Her reading ability has taken a big leap this past season. She will continue to thrive and push herself in big-time situations. After a solid club season, I could see her jumping into the 2023 rankings very soon.
Good luck to all of the athletes on this list and I can’t wait to cover another high school season for each!
