Continue ReadingAdena remains unbeaten and is currently ranked #2 in the Ohio Division III poll. At 25-3 overall in 2021, the Warriors are looking to some returning veteran experience to repeat as Scioto Valley Conference champions and improve upon their state semifinal appearance from last fall. So far, the results are in their favor. Here are some of their key athletes.
Sydney Fogelsong – 2023 | MH
Fogelsong has increased her production from 2021 in which Adena had good balance through a corps of attackers. She is the clear offensive threat as she is averaging 4.2 kills per set while hitting at a .390 efficiency, both team highs. She also contributes a team high 2.2 blocks per match. She opened up 2022 with a career high 23 kills against South Webster and recently reached the 20 kills mark again in a big win over league rival Zane Trace.
Hannah Burns – 2023 | OH
Burns is another carryover from 2021’s balanced offense and teams with Fogelsong to produce the most kills for Adena this season. Her success and productivity have also increased as the volume of work has picked up following the graduation of two key elements last year. The 5’8 outside hitter is averaging career highs with 3.2 kills per set and 7.6 digs per match. Her season highs include 20 kills versus Unioto and 22 digs versus Zane Trace.
Grace Townsend – 2025 | S
Replacing impact seniors is always a big challenge. In the setting role, the sophomore Townsend has been given the responsibility as the lone setter to lead and distribute Adena’s attack. She has responded well as she has 246 total assists nine matches into the season for a 9.0 assists per set average. Her defense has been impressive as of late as well as she has contributed double-figure digs in each of their most recent three matches.
Brooke Bossert – 2024 | DS/L
Bossert is a big part of this team’s effort on the other side of the ball as she averages over 16 digs per match. The 5’4 junior has already surpassed her season output from 2021 and is a big reason why this offense has been able to produce at the rate they are so far. She also gets it done at the service line as she leads Adena with 17 total service aces this season, an area that they excel in well as a team as they have 73 aces for a 2.5 aces per set average.
