There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our inaugural Prep Dig California All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Liberos we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Miliani Villarreal [2024] 5-8 Libero (HS: Vista Murrieta/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miliani is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but is on our watch list. She plays at Vista Murrieta High School and also club for the nationally ranked Coast volleyball program. This year she had a season that led all liberos in digs as she stepped into a major role in her second year on varsity. She tallied 482 digs, 448 service receptions, and 43 aces on the year. She reads the ball so well prior to the hitter making contact and is able to put herself in such a great position to play the ball every time. I love her angle on hard driven balls as it always goes toward her setter at the net. But what truly stands out is her footwork and how she anticipates the trajectory of the ball. With what we saw this year she truly earned her place on this list of nominees. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
Marai Guinyard [2024] 5-3 Libero (HS: California City/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Marai is currently an unranked prospect in the Prep Dig California State Rankings for the class of 2024. She is a stud libero for Cal City High School. She had a fantastic year which helped her squad go far in the state title chase. Her amazing serving and ball control was essential to her team being super competitive this year. The two star athlete also stars on the softball field for California city high. Her stats as a libero are why we have her listed with some of the best liberos in the state. She tallied 474 digs, 612 service receptions, and 54 aces. Her float serve is pinpoint accurate and she has stifled opposing receivers all year long. It has such a knuckle effect and is difficult to track in the air even when you know its trajectory. We are proud to have her listed as a nominee. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
Chloe Nussbaum Chloe Nussbaum 5'9" | DS/L La Canada | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-9 Libero (HS: La Canada/Club: San Gabriel Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Chloe is currently ranked as the 27th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She is a fantastic libero for La Canada High School and also for San Gabriel Elite volleyball club. This year she tallied 463 total digs. She also had 514 service receptions and added 73 aces on the season. Since she is one of the taller liberos in the state according to height, she has amazing defensive range. I also love how strong her frame is. It helps her to control every hard driven serve and attack that comes her way. She has some of the best ball control in the state of California and she proved it during her junior season. Please help us congratulate her on earning an All-State Nomination.
