While the Top 250 tour has begun, it’s coming to Michigan this weekend! Taking place at the UWM Sports Complex in Pontiac, MI, this showcase is shaping up to be one of the best yet. The competition coming in is fierce and will make for some incredible volleyball on Saturday.
These are some of the top names coming into this weekend’s Top 250. You do not want to miss out on these players!
Gabriella Babinski Gabriella Babinski 6'1" | RS South Lyon East | 2025 State MI – South Lyon East/Michigan Elite
An athlete that can really do it all, Gabriella Babinski Gabriella Babinski 6'1" | RS South Lyon East | 2025 State MI has started to really build a name for herself in 2022. One of the hottest up-and-coming opposite attackers in Michigan, Babinski was at the forefront for South Lyon East this fall. While an elite attacker, Babinski has some strong ball control and stellar setting abilities, too.
Angie Butler Angie Butler 5'10" | OH Mercy | 2024 State MI – Mercy/Michigan Elite
Don’t let her size fool you before she jumps out of the gym. Angie Butler Angie Butler 5'10" | OH Mercy | 2024 State MI has been on a serious growing curve as of late and showing some great progress. As last club season saw Butler struggle through injuries, she’s started to get back in the groove of things this fall. With a little more pop to her jump and doubling down on her ball control, Butler is a name to watch heading into the weekend.
Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI – Clarkston/L2
The class of the 2025 in Michigan is the class of the setters. Between the likes of Campbell Flynn Campbell Flynn 6'2" | S Mercy | 2025 State #4 Nation MI and Ella Craggs Ella Craggs 5'9" | S Northville | 2025 State #127 Nation MI , throw in Chloe Giehtbrock Chloe Giehtbrock 6'2" | S Marian | 2025 State MI to the mix for a complete trinity. While Giehtbrock has the ability to be one of the top setters, she’s been heavily relied upon for her offensive ways in 2022. Be sure to keep an eye out for Giehtbrock at the setter position this weekend.
Julia Gojcaj Julia Gojcaj 5'9" | S IMG | 2024 State FL – Stoney Creek/L2
Julia Gojcaj Julia Gojcaj 5'9" | S IMG | 2024 State FL may be a game-changer for L2’s 171 squad this winter. Gojcaj caught my eye at last year’s Top 250 showcase where she absolutely balled out. A dynamic setter with great hands and high level IQ, Gojcaj makes up for her smaller stature for some elite level ball handling.
Margaret Hilliard Margaret Hilliard 6'3" | S Cranbrook | 2024 State MI – Cranbrook/Michigan Elite
I would be surprised to find a taller player than Margaret Hilliard Margaret Hilliard 6'3" | S Cranbrook | 2024 State MI in the pool of setters this weekend. Head and shoulders above the rest, at 6’3, Hilliard can be a force to reckon with. At such a height advantage, Hilliard poses a serious threat with her net play. But what’s even more imposing is the tempo Hilliard can run with her height of contact.
Ella Jensen Ella Jensen 5'4" | DS/L Lakeview | 2024 State MI – Lakeview/Michigan Elite
A name to write down and remember. Not only going into this weekend, but during the 2023 club season. Ella Jensen Ella Jensen 5'4" | DS/L Lakeview | 2024 State MI has been on my radar for quite sometime and should be on yours too. In a class full of solid liberos, Jensen’s name deserves to be right in the mix. A stellar defender and rock solid in her reception, Jensen may very well be one of the top performers this weekend.
Lauren Johnson Lauren Johnson 6'2" | MB South Lyon East | 2025 State MI – South Lyon East/Michigan Elite
Another name to note going into the weekend and onto the club season, Lauren Johnson Lauren Johnson 6'2" | MB South Lyon East | 2025 State MI is coming in hot! While, not a name I’ve been too familiar with, Johnson quickly caught my eye this past fall. Explosive, quick off the ground and a fast arm swing. Not only is Johnson terminal but she can be a pretty stout blocker.
Emma Keeping Emma Keeping 5'11" | S Imlay City | 2026 State MI – Imlay City/Michigan Elite
Imlay City saw themselves have one of the best seasons in program history. A lot of their success was in large part due to the freshman, Emma Keeping Emma Keeping 5'11" | S Imlay City | 2026 State MI . A player that can rock any hat you throw on her, she’s a gamer. By the end of the high school season, Keeping was found primarily swinging on the right side. Going into the club season, Keeping is touted to be in the mix running the offense for Michigan Elite
Kaylin Schroeder Kaylin Schroeder 5'6" | S Bedford | 2025 State MI – Bedford/L2
Like I said, the 2025 class is absolutely stacked at the setter position. Kaylin Schroeder Kaylin Schroeder 5'6" | S Bedford | 2025 State MI has the ability to go toe-to-toe with the best of them. I would argue too, Schroeder may be one of the best defensive setters in the entire state, regardless of grade. While putting up over 1,000 assists in the fall, Schroeder followed it up with 443 digs.
Avery Woodard Avery Woodard 5'7" | S Marysville | 2024 State MI – Marysville/Michigan Elite
The last we had heard from Avery Woodard Avery Woodard 5'7" | S Marysville | 2024 State MI was at the last Top 250 Showcase. Since then, Woodard had suffered an injury that had her sidelined for the entirety of the club season and rehabbing all of this past fall. Woodard was a top performer at last year’s showcase. Going into the weekend, rumor has it, Woodard is looking to be in the best form she has ever been.
Fiona Moord Fiona Moord 6'2" | MB Leland | 2024 State MI – Leland
All the way from the Leelanau peninsula, Fiona Moord Fiona Moord 6'2" | MB Leland | 2024 State MI is the star of the north! A leading scorer for the perennial power in Division 4, Leland, Moord found herself atop the Division 4 All-State lists this season. At 6’1, Moord has a great size advantage over her opponents and can tower over them with her leaping abilities.
Kayla Nwabueze Kayla Nwabueze 6'2" | MB Bloomfield Hills | 2026 State MI – Bloomfield Hills/Legacy
Right alongside Keeping, Kayla Nwabueze Kayla Nwabueze 6'2" | MB Bloomfield Hills | 2026 State MI is one of the top rookies in Michigan this year. Only as a freshman, Nwabueze led the entire state of Michigan in total blocks on the season with 155! Nwabueze can jump out of the gym and is so fast off the ground. While an elite blocker, Nwabueze also knows how to bring some serious heat behind every swing.
