The CA Kickoff Recruiting Combine showed traits of power and control exhibited during and after contact. Below is a review of 2026 liberos, setters and an outside that put in effort and allowed for a clear takeaway of their strengths.
Ninya Udinoor (2026) | 5’3” | DS/L | MVVC
The active legs of Ninya Udinoor make for some unpredictable moves and unexpected plays on low serves. She certainly makes for a great teammate as she quickly opens up on a serve outside of her range and maintains that stance throughout the teammate’s pass. Keeping the ball in front of her is important as Udinoor looks to beat the ball to a spot in space. When served to her she keeps it close resulting in minimal shoulder movement.
Emily Pruett (2026) | 5’10” | OH/RS | Valley Volleyball Academy
Keeping the ball off the net is a strength of Emily Pruett and her ability to pass. Whether passing a slower paced serve with fluid arm action starting from her shoulders or a more contemporary platform angle only pass, Pruett makes sure that ball stays off the net. There is a level of consistency to her ready position that surely creates a routine and focus to each serve reception.
Ahnnayah Buenaflor (2026) | 4’11” | DS/L | Lakas Volleyball Club
After shuffle movements, stability and being mindful of a gap are two attributes Ahnnayah Buenaflor regularly stands out with. She often moves further than a deep serve travels to allow for the ball to stay in front on her. An unwavering foundation of Buenaflor’s legs make it very possible to manage late movement on a float serve.
Kelsy Mock (2026) | 5’8” | S | MVVC
A consistent and fairly distant contact point is a good sign of inner strength for Kelsy Mock. That strength is exactly what is needed as she makes a clear differentiation between the tempos of her sets to the leftside antenna. Mock makes an interesting first step backwards that, in a way, keeps the game in front of her. There will be many double high fives of celebration after sets in her future.
Brianna Simmers (2026) | 5’4” | S | Lakas Volleyball Club
Keeping her eye on the ball is a consistent player’s trait that Brianna Simmers does regardless of setting in front or behind. Along with an eye on the ball, Simmers holds a follow through near every time whether forearm setting or overhead setting. Combining her hustling, small steps she will be delivering hittable sets for time to come.
