Jessiya Baxter (2023) | 5’6” | OH/RS | Bay Area Volleyball Club
The capitalization of court space for Jessiya Baxter is excellent. An example of that is her ability to go from serve receive to pass a short serve and then attack with a four-step approach. Baxter also understands angles, passing to target on the move and bringing the ball down into the court while levitating.
Chinonye Oha (2023) | 5’7″ | OH/RS | Bay Area Volleyball Club
Adapting body positioning can be difficult when in the urgent environment of volleyball. Chinonye Oha is excellent at starting with a wide stance and making an accurate pass with a narrow base. This is made possible by her high heels in starting posture awaiting a serve. This lefty reaches high and finds the court every time.
Mariah Rua (2023) | 5’9”| OH/RS | Envision
Supportive. Communicative. Being a great teammate first is an essential quality for a member of a team. Mariah Rua stood out with her energy often focused on those superlatives. Rua has a skip in her step that identifies her as an athlete ready for rapid pick-up of moving serves. This movement can also lead to excellent court space utilization for her attack approach.
Katherine Sotirova (2023) | OH/RS |
Anyone else just appreciate a still frame of a 12:30 arm swing? Katherine Sotirova has her feet aligned underneath with an arm slightly in front to make an arm swing ready for a finishing move of a solid wrist snap. In serve receive, Sotirova is also ready for anything out of system and yet stays in her lane to allow for what could even be a four-person serve receive pattern.
Jadyn Alexander (2024) | 5’10”| OH/RS | Gold Cal Juniors
Patience is a highlighted attribute of Jadyn Alexander. She displayed this both in serve receive and attack phase. While Alexander commands space, her patience to see where a serve is traveling produces a performance of an all platform serve receive.
Michaela Branner (2024) | 6’1” | OH/RS | Redrock
Reactive to the action on court make it appears than Michaela Branner can then take it easy on the court. She calls the seams and is aware of her teammates read and intuition. This awareness likely slows the game down that Branner can then sit back into a pass. This is something to keep aware of when she faces fast-paced jump serves.
