Natali Elerick (2024) | 5’7” | S | Northern Nevada Juniors
Hitters will always have a chance with Natali Elerick. While out of system, Elerick sends a high, hittable bump set. In system, she often walks into her set whether forward or backward. A high contact, soft hands and strong wrists are a few attributes.
Olivia Valles (2024) | 5’4”| S | Northern Nevada Juniors
Like Angela McDonald, Olivia Valles lets the ball come to her. She consistently gets the outside set all the way to the leftside antenna. While the ball arrives to Valles, she is positioning herself to set the ball with her fingertips towards the back of her hands. A low contact, hardworking hands and strong fingers are a few attributes.
Jolina Castaneda (2024) | 5’6” | S | Dinamite
Find a setter that plays defense first and look no further than Jolina Castaneda. This is emphasized so much so that Castaneda showed an overhead dig. She has great control of the ball on a tempo set as she creates strength to push the ball. A middle height contact, firm hands and strong thumbs are a few attributes.
Ava Duarte (2024) | 5’5”| S | Gold Cal Juniors
If attacking is all in the hips, then the setting of Ava Duarte is all in her finish. She holds the finish to confirm a located set to either pin. Duarte gives very careful thought and attention to sets in the middle. A low contact, entire hand use and strong arms are a few attributes.
Mikhaela Lucas (2024) | 5’6” | S | Bay Area Volleyball Club
Being assertive by getting to the spot of the court where the pass is expected is a great strength for Mikhaela Lucas. As she gets to that spot quickly, there is a great hesitation with her setting that commands respect for the players making the penultimate skill in the offensive phase. A low contact, close hands and strong arms are a few attributes.
Angela McDonald (2024) | 5’6″ | S | Dynamix VBC
When covering setters, it is an automatic thought to consider hands. Angela McDonald, however, makes excellent use of both of her legs. During that movement, she allows the ball to come to her. McDonald also does less often wrapping her hands around the ball when setting. A low contact, firm hands and full use of wrists are a few attributes.
