The ultimate goal after three days of matches is to stand on the platform with your team and bring home a medal. There was a total of 845 teams who attended the event. Out of the 845 teams, 401 represented California. A total of 189 California club teams ages 17 and 18 came to battle for their respective clubs at the Classic event. At least one California team in each division (Open, Premier, Club) received medals in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. Congratulations to the following Las Vegas Classic medal winners!
18s Open had a total of 6 California teams who played. Two California teams medaled in the gold bracket. Coming in and achieving their goal by taking first place is San Diego Volleyball Club. They had an undefeated record of 8-0. SDVBC led by Christopher Muscat, Danielle Lamb, and Connor Bentley came and conquered the 37th Annual Las Vegas Classic by being the best of the best in the open division. They took home gold! Another great team who played in open and received medal honors with a record of 5-3 is 951 Figs 18-1. They also came in and also conquered the Classic. They were led by Juan Figueroa, Talen Palpallatoc and Caitlyn Bato. 951 Figs 18-1 took home bronze.
18s Premier had a total of 22 CA teams. There is only one California team that medaled in this division. Usually, the goal of every team is to win the competition. Not only did BVC win, they had an undefeated impressive record of 10-0. They came in and accomplished what they set out to do, win and bring home a medal. Bakersfield Volleyball Club took first place receiving gold. They were led by Kim Harper and Sarah Price.
18s Club had 63 CA teams in the pool. Taking 3rd place with a record of 9-1 is Xceleration 18 1 coached by Andrew Schroeder, Taylor Dixon, Jacob Swann and Jeremy Swann. The battle was worth it, earning them a spot on the stage to accept and bring home bronze.
17s Open had 13 CA teams in the pool. Taking 3rd place is RAGE 17 Greg under the guidance of Gregory Soliz, Waverly Green, David Collins, and Devyn Soliz. They had a record of 5-3 bringing home bronze.
17’s Premier had 22 CA teams. Vision 17 Blue received third place with a record of 7-2. They took home bronze. Coached by Cody Jankowski and Andrew Le.
17s Club division had 63 CA teams in the pool. California took two spots in this gold medal round. Point West 17-Dan ended with a 9-1 record taking second place and bringing home silver. They were coached by Dan Rizzo, Rory Mellin, and Patrick Lufrano. Apex1 17 Black came in third place with a record of 8-2 bringing home bronze. They were coached by Alexandra Griffiths, Dana Kaleiohi, and Tauao Feomaia.
432 teams all together competed in divisions representing 17’s and 18’s. 189 of those teams were from California. Eight California teams brought home hardware between each division (Open/Premier/Club). Congratulations to all of the California clubs mentioned, along with their players and coaching staff. Your hard work and dedication paid off.
