Five of KC Power ‘s 17-1 team have made Division I commitments and they dominated in a two-set victory over the Columbia Juniors in Power League action on February 5.
Here is the first of multiple scouring reports from the second day of 17 Power League play.
DI Prospects Shine
On a team chock-full of college-committed players these three stood out against the team from Columbia, Missouri.
Jillian Huckabey Jillian Huckabey 6'0" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #74 Nation KS , 6’0”, OH, Olathe Northwest, ‘24
Huckabey, according to Prep Dig rankings, is currently the second-highest Kansas player in the Class of 2024. She is a hitting machine and totaled five kills playing only in the first set of the match against Columbia. Huckabey finished with 257 kills for Olathe Northwest in 2022. She has committed to Florida International University.
Julia Headley Julia Headley 6'2" | MB St. James | 2024 State #103 Nation KS , 6’2”, MB, St. James Academy, ‘24
Headley has committed to play at Colgate University. She had three kills in the first match of the day. She hits the ball with authority and adjusts well to passes that are just slightly off. Headley is ranked No. 3 in the Class of ’24 players in Kansas.
Rachel Van Gorp Rachel Van Gorp 5'9" | OH Heritage Christian | 2024 State #94 Nation KS , 5’9”, OH, Heritage Christian, ‘24
Van Gorp was a stat monster during the early morning match. She finished with five kills, three blocks, three digs, and five serve receptions. Van Gorp is ranked No. 9 in the Kansas Class of ’24 and committed to playing at Iowa State University.
Three Other Standouts
Three other players had big matches for KC Power , two who are still uncommitted, and one who is playing up.
Zoë McDonald Zoë McDonald 6'2" | MB Shawnee Mission East | 2024 State KS , 6’2”, MB, Shawnee Mission East, ‘24
McDonald has a big athletic frame and has the skills for the collegiate level. She had five blocks and two kills against Columbia. She finished the 2022 high school season with 158 kills.
Tatum Tindall Tatum Tindall 6'1" | MB Manhattan | 2024 State KS , 6’1”, RS, Manhattan, ‘24
With so many talented players on the KC Power 17-1 squad, it would be easy to overlook Tindall. The Manhattan Indian had two blocks and two kills. She has an imposing net-front presence and will be a player to watch heading into the ’23 high school season.
Alea Goolsby Alea Goolsby 5'11" | OH St. Thomas Aquinas | 2025 State #36 Nation KS , 5’11”, OH, St. Thomas Aquinas, ‘25
Goolsby won’t graduate until 2025, but she was not intimidated playing with older players. She hits the ball with extreme power and has a linebacker’s frame. She had four kills and two service aces for KC Power .
