Statistical efficiency or in the case of these California athletes playing in President’s Day event, physical efficiency, is something to obverse and admire. The Las Vegas Classic and NCVA President’s Day events brought forward a few athletes to mention of their personal efficiency.
#3 (2023) | OH | Club Solano
Efficient comes in the form of big transition steps for this player. What can be described as a fast twitch athlete, she can reach to a seam in the serve receive pattern very quickly. Additionally, she has big transition steps that make her available and ready for any tempo of transition attack. She touches a height of the second white on the antenna when blocking.
Wyievee Binda (2023) | OH | Club Solano
An elusive player on the court will appear in one place and then somehow no longer be there. She can pass a ball that lands 12 feet from the net in the middle of the court starting at 20 feet away on the left side of the court. Her long strides and readiness to pass with her hands are building blocks for being an excellent passer.
Sophia Godinez (2023) | RS | Icon VBC
A roundhouse swing is one that is rare and difficult to maintain. As Sophia Godinez continues to utilize her own mechanical efficiency during this arm swing, she will find success against blockers because of resulting mistiming. She touches the height of the first red on the antenna when blocking.
Arianna Galasso (2023) | OH| Icon VBC
Arianna Galasso is efficient with her approach such that she adjusts to sets very well. A very controlled arm swing opens up her game to championing an off-speed and tip shot. While the footwork is efficient in her approach, she also exhibits excellent movement of her legs while passing. Additionally, a straight platform creates a landing for many opportunities of highly rated serve reception.
Jordyn Woodward (2023) | OH| North State
A straight-ahead hitter, like Jordyn Woodward, is one that can unexpectedly provide difficulty for blockers. There is little deception in her swing that should leave no concern in a setter’s mind. Additionally, Woodward has a smooth-moving plane of a platform. She also keeps excellent awareness while at right front when the opponent sends a free ball to that area.
Evie Turner (2023) |S | North State
Regardless of where the pass goes, Evie Turner finds her hitters. She is an active setter that sets the ball quickly and does not shy away from setting a pass close to the net. What is amazing about Turner is her contact point with the ball changes with each set. A low contact when setting out of system, a middle height when setting middle and a high contact point when setting back.
