Ellie Pick (2023) | S | OCVC
A setter dictating an expectation of where a pass is to be is difficult to teach and Ellie Pick consistently arrives early and ready making that location expectation very clear. It makes sense then that her set location is precise. Pick allows attackers to hit against a block by bringing the ball closer to the net than most setters might.
Claire Tong (2023) | S | SynergyForce
To see a team with two lefties is not very common and then to have both of them set is certainly rare. Claire Tong is one of those two with her teammate Mackenzie Dauden mentioned next. Tong has excellent court awareness with her lefty counterpart and a zone 1 to 1 serve that can cause fits for opponent’s passers.
Mackenzie Dauden (2023) | S | SynergyForce
Mackenzie Dauden is one of two setters that are lefties in a 6-2 offense. She has really great touch when setting on the run being forced into a bump set situation. She is also a beach hands style-setter with a more delayed release. Dauden makes every effort to keep the ball in which creates the complementary court awareness efforts of teammate Claire Tong mentioned above.
Abby Rosales (2023) | S | Legacy
Great footwork is one aspect that Abby Rosales demonstrates great repeatability. With that disciplined footwork also comes a play it safe mentality that can be great for teammates to play around her. Her setters look almost as if they are laid up on top of a shelf as Rosales makes no question as to where to expect the ball.
Annika Kandadai (2023) | S | Mountain View Volleyball Club
Annika Kandadai is an athletic moving setter that, without hesitation, will work to make a difficult set. For example, Kandadai will lean back to set against the flow or front face the net and set a right-side attacker. She will often set on the move and really gets great use out of her shoulders when setting.
Katherine Wahhab (2023) | S | Empower
To set with the pads or fingertips tips requires great strength and poise to which Katherine Wahhab routinely does. Assume that Wahhab will jumpset every chance she gets. Additionally, she is very careful when setting each hitter. The assertive nature carries over into her leadership by communicating the opponent’s rotations and players each play.
